Stupid bl**dy phone..

Anyway - it crashed the other day while reading a text message, appears to have corrupted the SIM (it doesn't work in another phone now), and now refuses to turn back on..

So far I've tried leaving it with no battery in for 24hrs or so, and then putting the battery in and turning it on, but no joy - the screen powers up, but it never actually boots, and all you can do is pull the battery out again.

Anyone know if there's a way to hard-reset these phones when they're in this state? or of any Nokia forums?

Failing that I'll have to try and get in touch with Phones4u, or Nokia

Oh yeah - and for anyone who has my number - don't bother calling it, coz it don't work ;)

pull the phone apart and remove the battery, not a good idea on a brand new phone as opening the case voids the warranty. Id take it back and get them to sort it out.

It still shlould be under the 12 month warrenty. Phones for you also give you a temp phone while they send off your phone for repair.

I had the 7210 for a few weeks and took it back cos it was the worse phone I have ever used. The colours where not the good, the sound quality was terrible and the buttons even thought they look good, where a pain in the arse to press.

FWIW - I agree - I'm forever hitting the down arrow when going for the '2' key.. Grr..

Still, I've emailed Phones4u, so I shall await an answer (and like, a phone number, hopefully! Try finding one on their website....)

Wish I'd got the 6610 now, ho hum - last decent Nokia I had was the 6110.. Been through a Sony J5 and a Samsung T100 since then, and disliked both, oh, and a Nokia 7110..

6310 is a nice phone, reliable, functional, and not stuffed with cr@p like colour screens, polyphonic tones and whatever.

I agree - 6110 was great still got one as a spare.

I have smashed to smithereens 2x 7110 and one 8210 (plus a few others) out of sheer frustration at them being so goddam crap.

I got a Samsung T100 on PAYG and had it de-latched to run my old Orange Virgin Sim - so now everything gets routed through onetel and I pay no a penny to the fascists.

I hate poxy nokia phones, totally overrated.

Good luck and I hope you get it sorted.

Yours,

Arthur Q Anorak-Sniffer.

Thanks Ajay - they certainly hide it well! I shall give them a call come Montag.

Glen - you're not wrong, they are overrated these days.. 6110 seems to have been the last decent phone they made, the firmware just turned to sh*te after that.. Although I guess I was lucky with my 7110 - it only crashed once..

I just sold my T100 (d'oh!), the only thing that annoyed me about it was the non-learning dictionary, other than that it was a really nice phone.

Bl**dy technology. Lets all go live in caves again..

Phones have seemed to go backwards actually with the useful features. Like different ring tone for different people, which is a good idea cos you know whether to rush to you phone when you hear it cos you want to speak to them or if its work phoning, leave it.

One thing I found really odd with the 7210 is you couldnt have a different ring tone for different people. WTF! A simple thing like that left out.

You could give different groups different ring tones but that meant assigning people groups first. And even then the 7210 wouldnt allow you to use more than 1 custom ringtone at a time. Again, gone backwards.

I know that custom ring tones are a little sad, but 90% of us have them. :D

I was going to upgrade to a 7210:rolleyes:

my wife has a 7210, and it has been no trouble....

however, the first batch were recalled very soon after launch, and we waited for the new batch before ordering ;)

a lot of phone dealers would not bother telling you they were recalled, or contacting you afterwards to tell you either....

its a numbers game... if you complain, they change it...

go and get it changed for the fixed version and you will be fine

new batch were not available until early december, so if you got it before then, it is definitely a recalled one, if you got it after.... unlucky

Ha, still got my old 8110 - a dinosaur special. Best phone I've ever had, although I must admit that it does need a good strong signal and my new horrid, horrid, horrid tri-band Motorola thing can be better in those circumstances (and the battery lasts longer)

D'oh - I have to take it into a Phones4u shop, and they'll send it off to Nokia (that'll be the last time I see it, then!)..

Sheesh.. if I had time to go to shops, I'd have bought it in one in the first place, rather than off their website!

Ho hum, almost tempted to buy another sim free phone to avoid the hassle.. How bad is that?!

Mobile phones are beelzebub's making ! I've never had one and never want one ;) ;) Aye :D
