Hi guys,

now, not trying to sound like some cheap shate but does anyone have a copy of the conzult softrware?

It just seems that £250 is a lot of money and we all could do with it in theory!

If this question is bang out of order then I apologise...:(

You are not paying for the software so much as the interface between the diagnostic port and you computer. So a copy won't help.

Don't quibble about the price. Nissan charge £100+ for a set of Consult tests so it will pay for itself after a couple of uses. Regular checks then become effectively free :)

If you think £250 is expensive go ask Techtom or a Nissan dealer what a consult or HDM-2000 costs...

Even the simple Techtom MDM100 costs more then a ConZult and it can only do a tiny part of what you're able to do with a ConZult.

Do a search on the internet for any generic OBD(2) software package and you'll find that the ConZult actually is a bargain compared to other similar packages.

By the way..the software alone won't do anything.

It's the electronics in the interface cable that do most of the work

Sorry..I always get upset if I see posts like this..

We've spend a LOT of time in developping the ConZult and tried to keep the price as low as possible to the Z-community.

Yep. Bang out of order is right!

£250 is seriously cheap (and I know I bought mine s/h so don't linch me).

If you've ever seen it you'd realise what an excellent job Eric has done.

Put £250 in perspective it's about 8hrs labour cost in a garage.

Tim

I ordered mine the other week. As people have said the cost of taking your car to a Nissan garage could far out weigh the cost of a conzult. I figured it's got to be a useful tool if you're gonna keep your car.

Guilty as charged.....

I was just checking that Zed owners werent passing it round but by the sounds of things, and after checking out the facts your all right!

It is cheap for what it can do but can anyone explain how an amateur mechanic like me can benefit from it? What does it REALLY do?

Go on, sell it to me and I might blow the moths off the old wallet!:D :D

what does this consult thingy software do ???

Oh and Eric, I have seen it in use by Jeff TT and it is a damn fine work of art....;)

DannyZ(Zaat) arrived one evening at pub meet at the John Thompson Inn,showed us all how it worked, very impressive,at the time he was allso settting up software/interface etc to use it on Skylines, did not quite work that night when he used it on a members Skyline, but 7 months since i bet he sorted it!Well worth the money by long way.;)

As a comparison Auterra do some software for a Palm handheld that works on all cars with an OBDII interface (most cars since 1995). Available for $210 from the states including leads and software but I'm guessing that a Z doesn't have a generic OBDII and this is where the extra cost comes in. The Consult software is probably a lot more geared towards a Z as well. Maybe you could get together with a few other Z owners in your area and get one between you. Then if you like it that much you can get one each.

Having seen some screenshots of the Consult s/w I must say it looks damn good, money well spent if you're keeping your Z for a while
