Any ideas?!?, engine was running lumpy from cold I get 100yrds down the road car stops and wont start. Removed spark plugs were soaking wet with black tips!, cleaned and dried them off and put back in. Engine started for approx 5 secs then flooded again and wont start. Nissan UK carried out a diagnostics check - nothing wrong, I said I would ask you guys they said "good idea"!

Many thanks,

Cheers Stuart n Sid!

If anyone else has any ideas on what could be wrong with my Z please let me know, as I hope to go to Nissan tomorrow to inform them what is wrong.

Thanks again

I hope you fair better than me. I will never let my local Nissan dealer look at my car again - got ripped off both times.

Its a long haul to Zedworld for me but they are IMHO honest. But I guess its too far a trip if the zed wont last more than 5 secs.

My "cure" for flooding is wait 30 minutes, accelerator fully depressed, turn the engine over and get ready to go to 1/2 throttle pdq. Its worked fine for me but I do not advise it unless you are prepared for any consequences.

Zimon, where is Z world based exactly?

Thanks,

D

Sounds like ignition to me. If it stopped dead then I'd be tempted to say CAS, but as it runs lumpy to start with and then restarts onece it's cooled down then I'd say PTU. Find soneone local, or someone with a spare and swap it over to see. A new one in the UK will be a few £hundred, get the uprated model from Courtesy in the US and you're looking at £160-ish all in.

Thanks Andy, if theres a problem with the PTU, would it not show up on Nissans diagnostics?

Only if it happened to be dead at the time. Might show something in the history, but couldn't guarantee it.
