I seem to be getting a slight vibration coming up throught the seat, its only very slight but i think im hearing a noise like a gentle hum with it, although im a right fanny when it comes to noises i dont think im imagining it, but it is or rather must be at an early stage, could it be the prop bearing on its way out perhaps??? or am i on the wrong track, its not wheel balancing or wheel bearing noise any ideas / info would be v much appreciated, eg is there a way to check this bearing etc

Hi,

I've had this on both 300s I've owned. Recently replaced the bearing on my present car and it solved it straight away.

When the guy that does my Z got my car on the ramp he was able to wobble the prop shaft around all over the place because of the shagged bearing!

It's a common problem on most 10 year old Zs.

Cheers,

And

If the vibration starts at around 50/60mph then its usually the centre mount. If this is the case, you could do with the car on a ramp to check out the bearing. Trouble is the exhaust tends to get in the way a bit....

CheerZ,

Andy

I had a vibration that was spot-on prop shaft bearing symptoms but turned out to be rear hicas steering joint wotsit.

Just another thing for you to check!

HTH.

If the car was OK till recently & no work has been done then it'll be a fooked centre bearing.

Another thing to check though if work has been done is that the prop has been put back at the right angle with respect to the other half prop. There's 4 different angles, 0, 90, 180, 270 and you have to select the one that gives you least run out. ie. the one that allows the prop to turn without moving from side to side out of true (or at least that's the way I understood it).
