Just had the results of first analysis back from Jeff re: my zed... bloody buggered to say the least.

Might even be staring at replacement engine for the thing... Passenger side Turbo has completely gone... amongst other things

Many thousand pound bills begin appearing in front of my eyes at this point.... I think I'll just go cry.

Will update you all as soon as Jeff at zedworld has given me the low down on where I stand...

God help me........................................................

all our worst nightmares - sorry to hear:(

Why? Whats the diagnosis?????

passenger side turbo completely shot, drivers side turbo flooded with oil, very badly as well... compression failure on passenger side... Drivers side bank appears okay, but passenger side bank is buggered. According to Jeff there's a chance it could be that the cambelt is missing some teeth and thus out of sink with the timing belt.. but to figure that out he needs to strip the front of the engine... lots of stuff.. rather a lot to take in over the phone. apparantly everything electrical checks out a.ok. Definite mechanical failure.

I'm completely gutted... I actually even feel sick.. keep telling myself it's only a car...

:(

Ouch - tough break mate !

If it turns out to be as bad as you think you could always go for a replacement anegine and gearbox from Japan. It's always a risk going for a second hand engine but maybe better the risk of a future problem than a guaranteed bill for thousands !

Try Mark on 01908 210352 (MIlton Keynes I think!). He's a contact of Bob Ford at Arriva Peterboro and he imports everything from wheels to cars from Japan and keeps engines etc in stock, I'm told.

I know.. plus there's the cost of the turbo's.

Cheers for the contact... I'm actually in Milton Keynes so I'll probably give him a call depending on what Jeff's answers are.

Anybody got a noose?

Had my engine blow after a few months of buying the Z, two and a half grand later for new lump and 2 years later, I still don't regret buying it for a minute. Had a E36 BMW before and people say "bet you wish you kept with the beemer?"

No, the BM was boring, the Z is fookin fantastic.

two and a half grand was less than I was thinking it would be.. but I've got the turbo's that need doing as well.. so I'm guessing that adds a fair whack....

.....still in shock. Thanks for all support from everyone though.

Off the road for a while then, I won't look out for it for a bit when I'm next up at the Snowdome! (I will in a month or so.......for a Z running so smooth I won't belive my eyes!)

Good luck.

Totaly gutted for you mate, did not think it would be the turbos, was not a nice sight watching it being towed up onto the recovery wagon, will give ya a ring,Tony:eek:

Gutted for you.

AndyZ is flogging an engine if thats any use mate!

Nick

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

Cool.. got contact details for AndyZ anybody? Or Andy if you get this reply! :)

Forming a cunning plan... how stupid am I to use this as an opportunity for *heavy* performance upgrades... taking advantage of the fact that the engine is out the car, what if anything would people do to it? Might post this as a seperate thread and get a feel for spending in the right places?

AndyZ's details are in his own section in the TRADING AREA, think you have to be a paid up member to access this part of the forum (£20 bargain)

There was a post in HELP & ADVICE by Lack300 entitled "what shall I do whist engine is out" quite recently, check that out.
