Titanium Key ( bent )

Whilst trying to open the drivers side door ( lock a bit stiff ) I managed to bend the titanium key , luckily I also manged to remove it from the lock without snapping the bugger.

I have no spares and don't want to risk snapping it at another attempt. In the long un i should fit some remote device and/or get the lock sorted.

In the meantime I'll go to the local key cutter and try to get a replacement cut. I know there was some stuff about this on the forum a few weeks back but couldn't find it ( yet )

Are these keys easy enough to copy , whilst a tad skew , or should I contact Nissan , bearing in mind I can't drive the beast

until a get another key.

Cheers

Phil

I think you will be stuggling to get a key copied from a bent key.

Do you have your log book because they usually put the key code in there and Nissan can make another one for you.

Yes , also the key has a code , 4 digits , I'll try the local mr Minit

for a laugh and then go the other route.

Cheers

I noticed that Courtesy do blank Zed keys. Maybe if you provide the blank the local key cutter can do something???

Do you have the black key? That is the spare Master key and you can get others cut from it.

Put the key in a vice;)

Phil,

Tis dead easy. Had some keys cut recently and heres how I did it.

Bought my self a spare black key blank from Mike Feeney. Took my original but very worn titanium key to the main dealer (god cant belive I am suggesting going to a main dealer!!).

They looked at the key and worked out the ky code for it. They then cut a standard Nissan key for me for a mere five pounds, which I took home and tried. Worked a treat.

Took the lovely 300zx black blank back the following day and they cut that for nowt!!! It was all done on a little hand held machine, and apparently any main dealer can do it and they can do import keys as well!!!!

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

Thanks all for the advice! I'll get it sorted today and let you know the outcome:)

The titanium key was the only one I had , but I'll get some copies and copies of copies done etc

Cheers

I took my key to the local key-cutter and he cut one no probs.

He told me to make a note of the code number on the Nissan key as he could cut me a new key just from that, even if I'd lost the original !:)

Handy to know I thought.
