Hi all,

This is my first post on this very active forum. So far the only active forum about 300ZX’s I know. So a small introduction would be appropiate.

I’m a 21 year old student. I study Civil Engineering in The Hague (Holland, I’m Dutch). It’ll take another two years before I finish my study. Hopefully i’ll get a job with a decent income.

My second car that’ll buy will be a 300ZX TT, at the moment I dont have a car. But when I finished my study I’ll buy the car currently owned by my dad. That car is also a Nissan, a Nissan – Laurel (C31). Build in 1984, 2,4L and 115 bhp. Check out http://www.datsunworld.com >models>C31, the fourth car on the top-row, for a picture.

So it’ll take a long before i’ll buy my own 300ZX TT. But some information gathering and knowing about cars in general is usefull.

So I have some questions, and this being the only place I know being active and with nice helpfull members this would be the forum to ask some question’s.

What are the auction sites you guys used too buy your Jap-car?

Or are there any West-European dealers specialised in the 300ZX, or jap-sportcar?

What are common production faults in the 300ZX, if any?

What are the Insurance costs for an unmodded car?

What are the Insurance costs for a modded car?

I could use some “personal”links to good websites/pages, I did check all the links on this site.

Thanks for your time and hopefully the given advice/knowledge.

Regards

Bram.

Questions as much as I can answer :

I didn't - mine's a UK Spec TT.

300ZX, or jap-sportcar?

There are no doubt some about, but word of mouth is a good recommendation.

PTU is the main one that most experience here. A series 1 PTU has problems and can cuase the engine to cut out when warm. Swapping this to a Series 2 will rectify that. Other issues depend on how well the car has been looked after and how old it is. Leaky taga rooves cause some consternation, although fortunately mine has never suffered from this.

What are the Insurance costs for an unmodded car?

The Zed over here is a Group 20 class car and for me personally, being female, 28, unmodded *cough* car, it costs me approx £600 a year to insure. However, there are figures lower and far higher than this.

What are the Insurance costs for a modded car?

This will depend on the mods and insurance company. As you will be dealing with Dutch companies (presumably) these will differ from UK companies.

What sort of mods are you planning?

Anita.

I dont know which mods i'll be buying/using when i finally have 300ZX. But reliability comes first, so most likely some mods that wont make me go any faster as the stock-specs. If the mod makes the car faster well that's going to be a bonus.

Hallo Bram!

Groetjes,

Danny

For all you English speaking folk on here, I promise this won't happen again - it is just nice to be able to speak my own language for the first time in a very long while. All I said was that he should check out Eric's website and get in touch with him as they are both in Holland.

Cheers!

Yep, that was exactly what i was about to say danny!!!:D :D :D

That brought back some memories for me as I used to live in belgium for nine years until I moved back home when I was 13 and couldn't read or write english...... still can't lol I always said that dutch language was a posh version of the flemmish language.
