Hopefully some one can help with the above called a couple of tyre places and they either don't wanna help or they don't know ????

 

I am running 265/40 ZR17 on the rear and 235/45 ZR17 on the front ......

 

At the moment there on 28 front and 30 rear

 

got 100 mile round trip tom so want to make sure there right

Hi Bagins - don't want to hijack your thread but would like to add the following:

 

What is the correct pressure for the space-saver tyre in the boot? My J-spec one says something like 44kg/cm2 (if memory serves me). What is that in good old blighty petrol station english?

 

As for the correct tyre pressure for your car - haven't a clue as I run standard UK size 16".

28 and 30!? Holy cow..

 

Standard is 34psi front, and 36psi rear - and the general rule of thumb is that you increase the pressure about 2psi per 5% drop in profile..

 

You've also gone up in width, of course, which also makes a difference, but..

 

Check your tyre wear - I bet the shoulders are worn more than the middle, if they've been on a while..

 

I'd up the pressure to about 35psi all round, and see how it feels, and how they wear..

If it's any help I've got 245-45-17 on the front at 33psi and 255-45-17 with 36psi at the back.

 

You could always do like I did and phone your tyre manufacturer - Toyo were certainly very helpful !

went to the garage and the fronts were 21 and 24 and the rears were 27 and 28 so upted them to 33 on the front and 36 on the back, my god what a differance the car feels great , only checked the pressure 3 weeks ago aswell , the car is driving and handling better than it ever has

well i just had a brand new set of falkens 225 40 18's fr and 265 35 18's rear. obviously want to get the best out of them so what would u recommend, currently running 32 all round, would higher pressure improve handling

I think its 44psi

Thanks Stuart - that is what I thought too but I've actually just put it into a conversion program (online) and it comes back with a figure of roughly 60psi!!! That does not seem right to me - would be like driving around with a timebomb in the boot! Surely it can't be that high - anyone know the answer to this?

I think the tyre sticker in my arm rest says 44psi and the tyre acutally says max 44psi on the wheel.
