Ello Keith as far as i know they go straight on put a set on mine a couple months ago well my mate sort of help me do it the only problem we had was undoing some of the nuts where they had rusted up now its on and you can notice the power gain when you boot it and if you got a after market exaust its a bit deeper note.I dont know if anyone else on here has had problems putting their's on good luck

Marc:) :)

I believe they're supposed to be good making a noticable decrease in spool up time and power increase but if your rear turbo seals arent in perfect condition they'll be killed without the cats. You might get the dreaded blue smoke which will mean you're gunna have to take the engine out to get to those fiddlley turbos :(

Correct me if im wrong people!

That sounds about right me exactly what luke from zed centre said to me when i got mine:rolleyes:

Marc:)

My car had new turbo's not long before i got it, so would (should) these seals have been changed then. The car has done less than 6000 miles since the turbo's were changed.

I had mine done a few weeks back - big differnce!! what year is your car?

Vijay

It's a 1991

Good news !

I had exactly the same problem after I changed my exhausts, caused by the sudden absence of back pressure to keep the oil in the turbos.

However HiTech put me in contact with Turbotechnics who sold me a 'breather kit' specifically designed for this problem with the 300ZX. It cost about £120 I think and works a treat ! :D

They're not a permanent solution as the turbo seals are obviously wearing, but it means you don't have to change your turbos as soon as you change your exhaust.

Muwahaha, don't start em all off on that again

lol!! the "breather kit" rears its ugly head again!! :D

keith - were they standard turbos or upgrades, cos its more the design than the "seals" themselves. all upgade type turbos, hybrids, jwt sports, HKS, etc all should be fine.

if they are bog standard nissan jobbies then you may find they draw oil through even if new. try it & see, it'll be an interesting test case if they are just Nissan ones. :D

OK, having been warned by AndrewG to do a search on breather kits for the potential problems I see there's been a little bit of a discussion on this topic before :D

Are there any telltale signs of impending problems once you've got these fitted ? Mine's been on for quite a wjile now and, as far as I can tell, has given me no adverse effects; only good ones.

So...

1. What do I need to look out for

2. Which would be better to replace it with - BOV's or recirc ?

Cheers !

As far as i know they are standard turbo's. So now you goy me thinking should i bother with this mod:(
