What to use?

Does anyone know the best stuff to use for removing twin-pak overspray?

I don't mean T-Cut but something like cellulose thinners. Cellulose thinners works but I'm sure that there must be something easier.

Thanks

Tim,

Whats twin-pak?

F.T.

Twin-pak is paint.

Tim

Im sure its called two-pack. Like the dead rapper ;)

What have you put the paint on?

Okay, we can split straws if you like... twin-pak, two-pack, call it what you like.

Okay, what's it on...

Stainless steel, painted steel, rubber, plastic etc etc.

Any advise appreciated.

Well,in me old job of 6 years of pre paint prep(aluminium) and metal finishing i have not come across anything better than 3M Finish, should do the trick, and if you need to bring your paint back to life or sort out discoluration, scratches, marks of any kind then its the dogs, costa packet mind, but the best!:D :D

Thanks for the reply Tony, but there is obviously some confusion.

I've just had the car resprayed and I want to know what to use to remove the overspray from places like the exhaust, fuel tank, rear ally x-member, that kind of thing.

If I'd painted it myself in Cellulose then I'd use a rag with Cellulose Thinners on it but I was wondering if there was an equivalent for twin-pak (two-pack).

Thanks

Tim,i get what you mean now, would be very exspensive to use 3M Finish at that amount,i cant remember what the sprayers used to remove overspray of that size area, they used 2pak for all items to be sprayed, there is something but blowed if i can remember,if i can will ask a old mate tommoro who still does it on the side,he will know, just a suggestion, have you tried petrol or deisel,.

Just thought ScotchBrite pads will get most off no probs, just need a bit of elbow grease, allso has the benifit of doing a good spruce up on the parts you mentioned!;)

Just to add it may help to soak the Scotchbrite in loads of t-cut helps break the paint down quicker, have done same myself, cheers,Tony:D

the problem with two pack is it sets by use of a catalist, rather than the thinners evaporating. So it sets like epoxy resin so once it is set very little will remove it. On places like your petrol tank, if it is black you are better painting over the overspray with a satin black aerosol. On the crosmember etc you can use wire wool to get it off failing that paint stripper like nitromors. All I can say is there is no really easy way to remove it.

Regards Kevin

Hi Tim did'nt realise there was overspray, if you go to a local paint supplierand get a litre of two pack thinners and a red scotchbrite pad, using the two together will sort the problem.

Did the battery hold the charge for you ok?

Hi Peter, thanks for the reply.

I didn't realise that there was overspray until I got home and had a look on Sunday. I wont go into details here, I'll give you a ring later.

I have just cleaned the car and fitted the refirbished wheels and I must say it looks very good - thanks
