What sort of money am I looking at to get the following and any other bits that would be needed/recommended?

How much is fitting going to cost roughly?

My engine is shagged so I'm looking at doing a major upgrade at the same time.

1, Forged Pistons (what are available?)

2, Big Injectors

3, Big Turbos (which ones to go for?)

Chris.

Forged Pistons = £600+

Big Injectors = £600

Big Turbos = £1800+

Misc gaskets/hoses for rebuild £500-£600 from Courtesy

+ Labour

You looking at £3600 upwards just for parts, plus you'll probably need bigger ICs too. Then there's the labour.

I'm doing all this at the mo & believe me I'm skint now :(

Hhhmmmm didn't realise the gaskets and hoses would be so much :( but I've already got the big I.C's.

If my house sale comes off I'll have a bit of cash to get this money pit back on the road.

I can't believe the gearbox went bang and then within a couple of months the engine has imploded! FFS

I owe so much cash and have put so much time into this Z that I have no choice but to spend more LOL

Just looking at your upgrade spec - 16 psi - how long did you think your car would last before something gave way?

I can only get so much past "er indoors" £3K ++ mmmmmm

With regards to turbos - I had one replaced OEM @ 1000 miles ago would you recommend replacing other whilst engine is out, or refurbishing it???? (engine has done £120k) If I replace one should I replace both?? if not OEM what is recommended???

I've had the car running at 15psi with a peak/scramble boost of 16psi for over 18 months with no problems or detonation except when it was really warm in summer and I turned it down a bit.

After getting my car back after standing for 10 months in the bodyshop and having big intercoolers fitted, a new stainless de-cat exhaust (it had a HKS one before), new Blitz SUS intake (used to have a mucky K&N cone) and replacing the PCV valves, for some reason the car started detonating badly at much lower pressures.

I had to turn the boost down to 11psi or lower, when in theory the car should have been fine at 16psi with the big IC's, especially as it's winter and has been freezing cold - ideal conditions.

Can't understand why it suddenly decided to do this?

You should replace both turbos at the same time. As far as OEM ones I feel dependant on price, that better could be found.

Hello Mate,

Pistons Wiseco from the states, 370ish plus tax, Arias from uk 600, it all depends upon the silicon content, I think the higher the content the piston is tougher but as a consequence you get more piston slap, the lower the content it is not as tough (still very strong) but you don't get as much piston slap!

Injectors you can adapt the plenum to take Allen Key screws and slightly grind away the plenum so that you change the injectors at any poiint in the future, without removing the plenum!

Nismo 550's about 600 quid, Apexi 550 about 510 quid!

That is right about the Gaskets etc, as I have just spent 8-900 on getting the right parts from courtesey!

Turbos choices are!

Garrett GT25's 1800 plus get downpipes

PE1420's 2000 for everything

Turbo technics stage 2's over a grandish fit straight on

Then you keep on going up in price and Lag LOL

Other things to consider during the rebuild

Clear out water channels, take out core plugs to see!

Remove EGR system, plus AIV if you haven't already

Replace Det Sensor

Consider fitting EGT Gauges

Port and Polish

Bilky 16 psi is not a problem for the stock conrods, they can hold up to 600BHP

Good Luck Mate

Mark
