Here's a thought, would it be possible to convert a Zed to LPG? or would it be virtually impossible!

What kind of costs would I be looking at?

Probably more than the value of the Zed right?:p

I would've thought it was possible, I know somewhere that does it Shaun I think here in de Wales. Pontllyfni garage just outside Penygroes, I'm sure they can sort it. Probably fairly cheaply aswell I would have thought us being hill billys an' all that! LOL :D

Naa, They've probably only ever done conversions on Tractors:D

I might give them a ring just out of curiosity.

LMFAO :D

Well they had a Jeep Cherokee with an LPG perversion last time me Bro was over there, he drove it! ;)

Thing is gas is between 10-15% less efficient. That means 10-15% less MPG and 10-15% less power.

Stuart

you may get 10% less mpg but its half the price ;)

the biggest prob on a zed would be where would you put the tank??

I seem to remember reading that LPG actually has a higher RON than petrol.. But I don't believe anyone does a conversion kit for forced induction engnies - could be wrong..

I do remember that one of the big Renault 5 tuners was working on a conversion for the R5GTT, not sure it ever got released though..

What a coincidence.....a freind of mine owns Avon autogas conversions and 3 weeks ago bought 91 ZX for his mum,he sent me a mail telling me that it cannot be converted to Lpg as there is not enough space in the engine bay!

Ususally converters make fss about turbo cars but nowa days with the injection systems its not a problem, i have had a twin turbo Jaguar on Open loop LPg and at the moment i have a Twin Turbo Maserati on Sequential injection Lpg which works quite well.

Its half the price for now. The EC made a law that all prices have to be held untill 2005. The night before the law came into ruling the price of GAS went up 4p.

In 2005 I can tell that the price will go up even more.

Absolutely true , but then so will petrol! also i,m paying .30p per litre £1.36 a gallon. even if it went up to the same level as petrol ,which i every much doubt i,ve already made huge savings all round. The oil stays cleaner for longer , its a higher octane fuel 104 octane so its kinder to the engine ie: pinking ?knock and last but not least its a much less polluting fuel. So yes it will go up by 2005 .can you tell me that other fuels will not also ??The longer you leave it the less you save , its as simple as that!

I can't see how they could justify putting the price of Gas up to the same as Petrol as the emissions are ziltch.

After all, the reason why we pay so much for petrol is to get cars off the road so as to reduce the damage to the environment, Yeah right!!!

Simple. It has to with taxation. not emissions. Fuel taxes are one of the most efficient taxes on activity. Even white van man has to pay them except for the ones with used cooking oil and farm diesel in their vans.

Saw an lpg converted Jeep myself - did 16mpg but that was like 32mpg with a petrol driven car when you compared the fuel costs. It's a no brainer on a big engined cars at least for now. Of course the tax goal posts will get moved. It will be the same for diesels with these new high pressure injection ones.

Wonder if you could get a decent 6 cylinder turbodiesel in a zed - now there's a thought. If BMW's 3 litre one would fit you could have NA performance and 40mpg with the 230bhp version.

prolly as heavy as a ships anchor tho.
