Take a look at the picture and anwer me this, how on earth did this zed make it to the workshop (40 minute motorway journey) with the inlet pipes in such bad condition!! the left one did not even have retaining clip on it! This was noticed during a general assesment and short service, the inlets had been off before as there is sealant everywhere but the pipes were not changed...this incidently is a reported 40,000 kilometer engine (2nd hand) yes right!

That don't look good.

I haven't got a clue what I'm looking at, but still it don't look good :D

I guess he was lucky its soooo dam cold! if it had been summer time, it might have been a different story!!

Bloodyhell, made the ones on mine you replaced look new, hate to think amount of water leaking outa them, and only 40k,mmmmm!,how the motor did not go pop defies belief!:(

When the top connection is in place the hard bit of tube in the connection is so far up the rubber that the hard bit of tube in the cylinder head is almost touching it. This and loads of sealant gunk is probably the explanation. Plus it would not have been pressurising so as long as it wasnt driven hard and filled up every day you could just get away with it.

My theory anyway

It's amazing that no-one had spotted that problem before. Especially with those bright red arrows there.

i suspect they may be what caused the problem to start with. did the owner live near a red injun reservation???

In all fairness, looking at that damage, it was done while replacing the metal pipes last time they were off. I know this is no excuse, but whoever did it, quite probably didn't even know they'd done the damage. Always check, check again, and triple check your work....
