I've had a creaking noise coming from the drivers side front suspension for a little while. I had the car up on ramps on Sunday and had a good look around to make sure nothing was loose and also tightened up the front torsion bars fully but I've still got this creaking noise which happens on bumpy roads. Anyone have any idea what it could be??

Cheers

have the same prob, but also blown turb seals now:(

Did you notice if you have Polly torsion bushes or any other bushes at the front. They have a tendance to creek if that goo is not used or comes off.

Stuart

I get it too, but only on cold mornings. Once the cars warmed up the sound goes away:confused:

Stuart,

I changed the tension bar bushes a while back and didn't use the goo stuff - I thought it was just for getting the bush in......where does it creak on the bush?

Vijay

Sure it aint the bonnet catch??? :D

That was serious btw! The bonnet catch can make a really annoying sqeak sometimes. Wrap some tape around the U shaped latch on the bonnet to make up the thickness again...

No its to stop the squeek too.

It could be the bonet catch. As Andy said put a piece of electrical tape round the U catch. Only go round once or twice. Any more than that and it wont close.

Me too - I get the creak in the cold for a few miles, and then it just goes. Doesn't seem to be anything to worry about at the moment....... or is it?

I whouldnt have thought its anything serious, just the bushes creaking.

liberal application of silicone spray from Halfords - yellow aerosol. Anthing rubber or where there's a seal ie shocks etc. Works wonders...

If it's any help - I recently had my front bushes changed to poly bushes and noticed a squeaky-creaky noise whenever I drove over sleeping policemen (sorry boys).

Seems to have stopped now though.

Russ.

I had exactly the same problem,i greased all the bonnet catches and it dissapeared,it can back after a few weeks,i greassed it again and again it's dissapeared!!!!!!

I'm positive it's not the bonnet catch. Where was the goo stuff supposed to go on the bush? is it on the metal that goes through the bush or the actual bush itself (between the bush and the tension rod housing)?

i get it too but just put it down to the fact my car is really low and has adjustable shocks which i think are on the hardest setting:confused:

Have a look between the suspension turret and the shock top mount - there should be a gasket between them - if not that could well be your problem...

Hello Andy,

Just looked and there is a gasket there. I'm gonna get some new ones to go on when I do the shocks - is there anything else that you think would be worth changing when the shocks are done?

Andy,

How long u worked on 300's cos there doesnt seem to be any part of em you dont know about!!!!

Nick

:D :D

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

Vijay YES!!! Get replacement dust boots for EVERY shock - chances are they'll be shot to pieces on the car. I was lucky - mine were spot on :p EVERY other car I've seen needed them though. They can only be installed with the shock/spring assy apart...
