I'm also got jet black tailpipes which I suppose must be down to her running rich. I know that she is running rich because of a rolling road test after I had the cats gutted recently when they collapsed.

I'm pretty sure that they must be knackered becuase they are the originals and she has now done 175,000 miles. Conzult seems to show that with each sensor the voltage often sticks at the same value for quite some time when taken out on the road.

So, is it a reasonable DIY job to change the sensors from the top of the engine and can you use non Nissan ones (I never entrirely trust the faqs on twinturbo.net since the engine compartment layout isn't quite the same on those left hookers). I'm quite willing to get the soldering iron out snd splice the old connector onto some aftermarket sensors. Also, if its not a reasonable DIY, how much time should a competent garage take.

aftermarket ones should be ok as long as you get the correct amount of wires & wire them up accordingly, as you can get any thing from 1-4 wire probes depending upon whether they are heated, earth through the cat, seperate earth for heating etc.

courtesy list them at $60 each, so as anders says, dont bother with aftermarket ones :)

Just fitting my O2 sensors at the moment. Local tuning garage supplied lucas parts. £40 each. Not too difficult to do just have to remove a few things first. battery etc. you will need a 22mm deep socket with slot in it to feed the wire through. Taken me about 3 hours. Just need to wire them up. Not sure of that at the moment. Lucas part has 2 white wires and 1 black. Car has black, red and white. Any ideas?

Where do you get the socket with the slot? Is a proper O2 sensor wrench really necessery and if so where do you get one from

I dont think its really needed but its a hell of a lot easier to do with one.

The 3rd one down says fits most Nissans, most probably be the one then.

About £30 a little steep but its snap-on and will probably save you alot of argovation.

I'm Sure Mark (Topless) used a crows foot spanner............

Vijay

Has any one worked out if you can use other O2 sensors or do they have to be Nissan.

Stuart

I recently installed "universal" sensors with the same thread in my Zed.

The price was around 80 Euro for 2 sensors

I had to use the connectors and a piece of wire from the old sensors, but apart from that they seem to work fine and also on the ConZult everything looks fine (voltage levels, etc)

I don't know if it would make the job easier, but I can sell you a pair of manifolds, with the o2 sensors still attached for £40 the pair. I know the sensors are sometimes very hard to get off.

Thanks

Hi Mate,

I have changed mine on both sides and I used a crows foot spanner, I think it is either 19 or 22 mm, a couple of extension bars and a flexible drive, a breaker bar and lots of plus gas. The main problem I had is getting to them with my sausage fingers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL

What does $60 per sensor from Courtessy equate to by the time that our blood sucking government has had it's cut?
