Hey all,

I've fitted a new in tank fuel pump to my Zed, on the recommendation of my of my mapper/tuner (it was running out of puff under load).

He is suggesting that he wires in a new relay and wiring, as the existing thirty year old wiring may fail under load.....

Thought please?

Thanks - Andy

I'd normally suggest letting the tuner do what they say is necessary - if only to not give them something to blame if something does go wrong.

I have not heard of a complete wiring replacement being necessary for the fuel pump before but I suppose it can't hurt so long as it is done properly. The "done properly" part is the kicker though. What might be sound enough to last through a mapping session may not be sound enough to last another 30 years...

Ultimately though, if you are with a tuner you trust, there is your answer. It takes trust.

Sounds like a waste of time to me

Make sure your fuel pump ECU is functioning correctly it could be that its failing and causing your car to lean out under boost. Or you could have a mismatched 2 speed pump controller to a 3 speed ECU.

Replacement wiring isnt needed unlese you have an upgraded or dual fuel pumps with HOBB switch etc, and none of that is necessary unless your going past 500hp
