Could be a bit long but worth reading...

Got stopped in a hire car last May on the A55 by an unmarked pig mobile. Vectra!

He pulled me at Abergele, told me I'd been doing more than a tonne in places but would give me the benefit of the doubt and put me down at 95mph. OK, bonus!

Negat court appearance for that, fixed penalty.

Only problem was that I'd sent my license off to DVLA when I moved into this house eons ago and they responded with "You now have to replace your license with a photocard jobby!" at the cost of 20 squids.

So I never got round to it. Sue me!!! LOL :D

So I had to produce my documents at the local bacon brigade inhabitance within seven days and pay the fixed penalty of 60 squids and have me license endorsed with 3 penalty points.

So I go down to the local cop shop and can only produce the cover note for the hire car which was in the Mrs Turbos name but has me on as a named driver, also a letter from DVLA about my renewal and the photocard thing for change of address. This had my driver number on it. So negat MOT certificate, negat insurance certificate or driving license.

Bitch behind the counter tells me that I should have been arrested at the roadside for that speed. I said "Are you havin' a laugh love? I've been done for speeding in the past and I can't ever recall being arrested on the spot for it!", so she takes offence at my attitude and puts me down as not producing license, insurance or MOT.

OK, upshot is that I asked the guy who I'd been hiring the car off for the past 9 months or so for the documents. He tells me that it's against the law to provide the hirer with said documents as I the hirer could then be in a position to do a runner with the hire car and have all the documents in my posession. Fair enough.

So I told queen bitch at the trotter shop to phone the hirer for the information she required.

I send off my 60 squids to the fine peeps with my counterfoil from the copper and about two months later I get my cashback with the counterfoil.

I ring them up and they say that because I have not submitted my license I will be receiving a summons through in the post.

I get the summons, they wanna do me for driving without insurance, failing to produce my license at the roadside, failing to produce MOT etc.

So I was due in court 18 Dec 2002. I rang in and told them I was sick, couldn't attend and could I have an adjournment.

Get a new date for 2 Jan 2003, are you havin' a laugh??? Rang up and said I couldn't make it and could they give another date?

Get my next date through for 9th Jan I think.

I rang them again and told them that I have been out of work for a while, I can't afford to attend and can I send in a statement?

OK!

So I sent the magistrates court a statement explaining all of the above, result? I have to pay the 60 squids and my license has been endorsed at source at DVLA with the points!

My point? What a waste of tax payers money. I provided the court with the insurance cover note and explained why I, under UK law, could not provide the documents requested and that I'd informed the dip shit civvy on the desk about this.

When I had my Merc and got stopped in Stevenage I didn't have my license, girl at the cop shop in Stevenage told me that if I gave her my driver number she could just ring DVLA and confirm that I held a full license and that was the end of it.

Red tape or what??? Law and the courts in this country are sh1te!

Yes they are shite.

My sister's boyfriend had a bump (not his fault) on the M6 about 18 months ago and he had to take his stuff to the police station. They had no idea of what he was on about. They rang the St. Helens station, they didnt know anything about it, then rang the Warrington station, they knew nothing about it. So 2 days after this inccodent happened no one in the police had field it. We where told by the person at the front desk in Wigan, its becuase no one wants to do it cos of the paper work. They they all left it for another station to do it. Motorways are abit iffy cos some part are run by 1 station and a mile down the road another one does it.

Another one was AY3388 had a Corsa courtesy car and was sent a failure to pay a parking ticket for parking on double yellows in London city centre. He sent a letter back saying its not him cos he lives in Wigan and hasnt been any where near there and on that day he was working and if proof was needed of working he will provide it.

Some time later he got a letter appolgising for the mistake.

A months later he had a letter through the post with a summons to court, or it could have been a failure to turn up to court.

Anyway, he phones a number on the letter and says that he wasnt in London then and he lives over 200 miles away. But they insisted that his Vauxhall Vectra was illegally parked in London on day in question. Hmmmmm, his courtesy car was a Corsa. The Traffic Warden wrote down the number plate incorrectly. You would have thought that when they type in the number plate to find the address of the ower they would look to see if the 2 cars are the same.

Thats interesting. If you had a car that was really hard to identify what would they put on a ticket? For example if you have a 300ZX and you make it look like a MR2 or you have the rear window kit making it look more like a MR2 and take all the badges off, and you get a letter through the post saying you MR2 reg no. bla bla bla was parked. You can say you dont own a MR2 and that the warden must have written the plate wrong or it sounds like there is a MR2 with your plate on, wonder if you would get away with it.

Stuart

Ive never got done for speeding:D Touch wood.

However ive had two counts of dangerous driving, 2 x careless and inconsiderate driving, failing to stop, and failing to report an accident and total fines of about £3,000.

Ive learnt my lesson now, admit nothing!:D

I think theyre meant to check it on their radios on PNC, then again that things a joke, I very nearly got arrested a full YEAR after getting my licence back as PNC said i was still banned.

I am happy to say that I have never had a speeding ticked nor any other driving fine.

But if I do get caught speeding I will ask to see proof complete with proof of calibration checks on the camera. They may drop it. :D

I am very careful anyway. I try not to speed round towns. The only places where I will admit to going a little to fast is on the motorway. And even then its 90mph tops.

Stuart

First time I got stopped in my Z, a couple of weeks after I imported it, it was because the PNC check told them it was a 3 litre twin turbo Micra !

Good system ! :D

Mind you - how much fun could you have in a 3 litre twin turbo Micra ???  :D

Similar thing happened to me Timmy mate.

I got stopped for doing about 55 on a 40 limit dual carriageway.

The copper said it was a fixed penalty of 3 points, £30 fine and then asked for my documents.

I didn't have them on me so I had to produce at the cop shop within 7 days.

I had just sent my licence off to DVLA with £20 to get a clean one as all my points (lots!) were all out of date! Doh!

Told the copper who stopped me this and he said "Sorry but I'll have to caution you that driving without a licence is an offence"

Went to the station a few days later and explained and again they said they would have to charge me with driving without a licence.

I said I've got a licence it's just at the DVLA so there's nothing I can do.

Told them to speak to DVLA to verify I have a licence and they said they couldn't do that.

To make matters worse they said as I had no licence the copper wasn't allowed to give me a fixed penalty so it had to go to court instead.

Got the summons through and pleaded guilty to the speeding but luckily in the time it all took my licence arrived back so they dropped the no licence charge.

What really pissed me off is that instead of the 3 points and £30 fixed penalty, the court gave me 4 points, £80 fine plus court costs of about £40!! The bastards.

All because I paid £20 to send off and get a clean licence!

Do they actually expect us not to drive at all if you send your licence to DVLA ?

They're 'aving a laugh !

It wouldn't be so bad if you could just get your licence updated at a VRO but it takes at least a fortnight to get a response from DVLA.

RANT!

They make life awkward as hell as we've been hearing ,but when our neighbourhood was constantly being vandalised ie: cars smashed up ,cars painted all over with bitumen ,cars set alight etc etc we all (35 families) received a victim of crime No. and were told there nothing they could do about it.This was 11 years ago , i visited my father last week and its still going on!

Another one me now this is good!!

I was sat in my van outside of my house 2 years ago just about to drop off wy wife & 2 year old daughter when all of a sudden my wide mirror is smashed by this clown screaming at the top of his voice at his fat bird. He fell onto the boot of the car in front which happened to be mine blood was smeared all over it , he then ,still screaming rubbish walked alongside the car kicked the side mirror of the car off, i jumped out and went at by the time i got to him he had smashed two other cars windows.

I got him on the ground and told wifey to call the police while i held the git by this time my poor little 2 year old daughter was very upset which ofcourse upset me and i got a bit rough with him. The police came 22minutes later !! i was absolutely knackered trying to hold onto this shit in the rain outside my home. Anyway they took him awaya and took astatement from me andsome neighbours whose cars were also damaged, 3 hours later the police came back and arrested me!! for GBH as this piece of shit had a broken wrist and i had broken it ,if i did then F******* good job, but i dont think i did because i managred to hold him quite still in a Judo hold called a scarf hold which is pretty impossible to get out of and does not invovle the wrist at all!! My point is for some reason it took 4 policemen struggling to get this vermin into there van with quite a struggle whilst they were holding his wrists to put the handcuffs on him!

Anyway i've now got a criminal record for assault, it was the first time i've ever been arrested for anything at all, my fine was more than the vermins fine was for "Vandalism" What a great British police force we have.....target the motorist help the shits ,it turns out this piece of crap had 25 convictions from theft to god knows what, andpunishes you if you try and stop someone damaging your property let alone the distress caused to my wife & child!

Phew end of RANT!!

I don't know if this is true generally, but most of the coppers in North Wales are a bunch of Arrogant w@nkers!

I know, I've been out with a couple of police women from around here & both of them were control freaks & arrogant with it!

It seems to me that these control freaks get themselves into the force so that they can push people around!!

There are some decent coppers but not that many, most of them are on a power trip!

Jesus Mas, just read your reply, that's F*****g terrible!

My sisters boyfriend, drunk one night walking went to get a curry after leaving the pub, when a fight broke out. He went out and tried his best to stop it, which they did. Anyway he gets his curry and starte making his way home. All of a sudden a pig waggon pulls up 3 police jump out and try bundeling him in to the back of the van. They didnt say anything to him. As you can imagine being startled like this and being a little drunk, his curry didnt stay in the tray and it spilt on a police twat. When he got to the police station they told him that he was being arrested for that fight outside the curry shop. He told them that he was trying to stop it and that he should phone the shop and ask them. They did and he was cleared of the the fight, but they kept him for assulting a police officer. His curry spill was assault. He was very worried but a week later they dropped the charges.

Another one that was in the paper. Old womans house was burgled the neighbour phoned the police and the council. The council where there in less than an hour to change all the locks on the door and infact they repaired to the door too and added extra locks.

The police arrived 2 days later to get information.

Stuart

This country's just too politically correct - it now protects the guilty and punishes the victims.

If someone comes onto your property and causes damage to your family or property then they should be fair game !

In your case Mas it should have been up to the scum to prove that you broke his wrist, not for you to prove that you didn't, at least in a country which operated a JUSTICE system, rather than a LEGAL system ! 'Justice' would be to assess the situation and judge it fairly. The 'legal' system just works on precedents and the letter of the law, however unjust !

i agree with you entirely Konrad but the appeal court did not, apparently a police doctor was called to examine this muscus , at our expense i might add,and it was broken . The 3 appeal judges heard the case and said that it was "As wide as it is Long" and that my conviction would stand along with the Fine of £250 for a first ever offence in 40years of my life plus it cost me £1500 in Legal fee's of which the police had to pay £750 as they had taken to long to respond(22 Minutes)to my wife's phone call!

One gleam of satisfaction however, the Police in they efficiency did not send me a form for the compensation order for when "Cretin" appeared in court for wanton vandalism, the case proceeded through a system called "Fasttrack"and it was heard within 3 days of the offence. The policeman in charge was on leave, iwent to the ststion and made a complaint as i had been awarde £100 compensation, now i had a quote from a Renault garage for the vans mirrors £90 and a quote from Jaguar for £375, £465, now this is exactly what happened. £ weeks later i had a visit from a Police inspector and a sergent asking me if i really wanted to go through with this complaint as everyone make's mistake's and this may affect this young policemans carreer,i told .well yuo can guess, 2 weeks after this they approached me again with an offer of £350 if i dropped the complaint and signed a form agreeing that this payment was a "Goodwill " gesture and that the poilce were not blame at all for this incompetance, apparently the other neighbours had some diffulcuties with the police as .well No NO NO!! I approached the neighbours who also had received a similar amount and a few other discrepancies. It went through the Police Complaints didvision and we were awarded the correct amount plus £150 for our stress. It felt good ,but i was still out of pocket because of the legal fees £750 (half) plus i have a police record , which does bother me a lot!!

Sorry lads about this off topic Rant

Regards John.

At least you had some satisfaction though, well done!

I was attacked by two thugs who I knew and it took 4 weeks for the police to come and take a statement.

When I talked to the copper who was dealing with the case, he said 'Oh yes, I know Phil (one of the guys who had attacked me), he's been in and out of trouble for years, we kind of have respect for him now'.

As you can imagine, I thought WTF! It seemed that the reqular criminals get respect!

All throughout the prosecution process, I got the impression that he (the copper) was hinting that I should drop the case & had the distinct impression that he was more on the side of the thug!

This experience left me feeling very bitter towards the Police in general.

I know that there are decent professional police men & women out there but the bad ones give the whole force a bad name.

All this after the government want us to get involved in tackling thugs - this is the thanks you get and the reason no-one wants to help.

Its sad that its safer not to get involved than to try and help out anymore.

Good on you Mas for getting something back from them in the end - thats a terrible story.

I'l bet what happened with his wrist was the coppers broke it but they wouldnt admit it and thought lets get the other guy for it so we dont get done ourselves.

Especially seeing as they hit the wrists with the handcuffs to get them on; they don't open them first if they're in a scuffle.

Even if it was you, who cares ? He got what was coming to him !

If he hadn't started it he wouldn't have got hurt !

Mas thats a terrible story mate, no wonder people take the law into their own hands. If it happened again you would be better just causing him some real damage then leaving him if nobody saw you.

Unfortunatly bad cops ruin the reputation of them all.

Hail Tony Martin a national hero!!!!!

far to many do gooders and sympathisers around today!

Dont know if anyone said, cant be arsed reading all the posts, but generally if they say they are going to do you a favour and write it down at xxmph, then they dont have a ****ing clue how fast you were going and they probably couldnt prove a thing. They just say that so you accept the fines. Not that it helps you now. Think about it, if they had any recordings or any proof of how fast you were going, it would be illegal for them to lie about your speed and say you were only doing 95.

But do police officers need proof for something like speeding ?

sorry, but that didnt mean it was a definitive answer, but im pretty sure if you *were* doing 100+ they would need proof. Data logging, on board camera, speed camera pictures of something, im sure if you asked them to prove it they couldnt, i dont know...then again, I wouldnt get caught speeding at close to 100 anyways, so im ok! ;)

Just curious as to why they would do you a favour, at them speeds Im not sure it *would* be a fixed penatly and they are saying that as they cant prove it, as youd still be 25 over the speed limit.

or am I talking shite?

Also, im sure *if* they had proof, especially datalogging or video or something, they wuold take great pleasure in showing it to you in the back of their car.

heheh

I thought the same thing Ay and I think that is why he didn't try it for the tonne plus. That would mean a court appearance and he would probably need firm evidence incase I denied it.

He told me that he'd clocked me over 2/10ths of a mile at a constant speed of 95mph.

I asked a copper mate of my Dads about contesting it for this reason and he advised me not to. Telling me that I would more than likely come off worse with a bigger fine, more points and court costs.

I was done years ago on the M25 by a VASCAR at 101.25mph and in that instance there were two coppers and I got to watch myself on T.V. But that in itself was questionable as the traffic pigs are supposed to have the equipment calibrated before taking the car out. When he was trying to show me my clocked speed the unit kept flashing up CAL loads of times before my speed finally appeared. CAL meaning calibrate.

I used a brief for that episode and mentioned this to her and she said it wasn't worth it as the pigs would produce paperwork to prove that the unit had been calibrated before the start of the shift even if it hadn't. Feckers!!!

As the token punchbag,I have read all the previous threads with utter disgust, especially you Mas.

But do you know, having been in this job for 17 years now, nothing much suprises me!

All I will say, is that hand on heart ,the vast majority of coppers in this country do a very difficult job, with just a few managing to upset the apple cart.

The places that I have worked have always been so busy that you barely have enough time to sort out the real sh*t,so how these ones that have been mentioned are able to persecute innocent people, god knows.

None of us are perfect but since I joined I have seen a steady decline in the quality of recruits.I do think some of them join for the wrong reasons, but unfortunately for everyone it always seems to take some major f**k up,before they are found out.

All I can say is that if I can ever help anyone out, then give me a shout.

Cheers,

F.T.

;) did you notice that that last sentence rhymes!!
