Hey all,

I'm in the process of recommissioning the Zed (been sat on my drive through the winter), after a battery charge, she started up first thing - yay.

A smell of petrol, nothing amiss up top - but looking underneath there was petrol dropping down big time on the nearside.

Quickly shut the engine down, let the petrol all evaporate and tried again......no fuel leak this time - weird.

Is it possible that something (fuel regulator) was a bit sticky and caused a problem - I'm clutching at straws here.

A dozen starts later, lots of idling, the leak has not reappeared - great. I'd still like to know what caused it though...

Any ideas....

Nissan fixed the old style fuel clamp problem later in the Z32 production cycle with spring clips (part # 16439-16E0A)

which allow for the contraction of the pipes with age.

Thanks Andrew, clips needed minimal (if any) tightening, all visible connections are sound.

Started and ran, no sign of any leaks, weird.

I highly recommend replacing all the jubilee clips with these - as Andrew says, they contract when the fuel lines age (and shrink with temperature) so it cuts down on the fuel seepage, as the weather gets colder.

I did mine at the same time as I replaced all my under-bonnet fuel lines....!
