Sensors ???

Inside the front bumper grille is a wire that runs to a little black block. This in turn sits on a rusty/chrome stirp which is bolted to hte underside of the black plastic grille. Is this the ubiquitous exterior temperature sensor????

    It is (also) used by the computer that controls the aircon/climate-control

    I take it that it'll work much better if the metal strip aint as rusty as it currently is!!! Much cleaning required!
