No not funny ha ha, funny wierd :D.

Sounds like a fan being turned on and off, coming from the back/underside of the car when idling warm.

Any ideas?

Cheers

My guess is that its the fuel pump building up the pressure.

Like a minature fog horm. ???

If it is the fuel pump. It should only go on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition on from cold.

Does your petrol cap hiss when you unscrew it (won't do this from cold only when the car has been for a run) ?.

If not you may have a problem with your fuel pressure regulator.

Well there are no fans at the rear of the car, so I'm guessing that it must be the Fuel pump. Are you having any noticable problems performance wise. If not I wouldn't worry about it too much.

No - performance wise it kicks ass :D  :D , other than a few hesitation probs when hot which I've put down to a loose temp sensor connector - I'm getting a connector clip for this as it keeps coming loose  .

I'll have a proper listen for the noise.

Cheers

Pete

Listen for the fan noise again. Then see if its coming from the vents near the interior light between the T-Tops.

Stuart

Ah Climate control, forgot about this.

If you want to keep the temp sensor in place then you can use a little silicone around the connector, as the engine warms this will dry rock ard and also keep the water out at the same time avoiding further corrosion.

Cheers mate, I've just fitted a showerscreen in the bathroom and have some silicone left over :D

Pete, the noise you describing is the elec aerial motor trying to move the aerial up or down,it cant do it as its broken off just below where it pops out, thats why i put a black cap over top of where it used to come out,if you pop round weekend i will show you how i stop the motor whineing,Tony;)

Ahhh - the mystery is uncovered!! Thanks Tony :D. PM me your address as I don't have it :D .

While I'm writing - whats the upside down dome shaped black plastic thing hanging down from the back of the t-bar? Just behind the interior light. Its got sponge inside it  .

Think I've nearly exhausted my questions now LOL!

Pete

Ok Pete will do!,as for the dome,i do know, but at this moment in time my brain is dead, only been out of bed 40 mins,:D

No Gio,i think the one Petes on about is just above, slightly behind drivers head, center of targas, circular dome type, with a sponge substance in it,might even be a jap air freshner thats been there since god knows when!,i still sure i seen it before somewhere!:D

  • Author

Yep Tony's right about the description. Interesting about the fan tho!

I'll give it a sniff :D

Pete

Ah OK - could well be aftermarket then. Or at least it isn't on my Series 1!

  • Author

Just been and had a look - the dome says "Cruise control S-C" on it. The plot thickens.

Ha,i think its to do with the max cruise speed in japan,i think it gives a warning chime out, getting close anyway!:D
