Hi folks

I have brought my Zed down to Devon and now need fuel, BUT every garage I have been to has run out if Super?

So do I risk it with a bit of e10 regular until I can find some e5 super?

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I dont think it will be a problem to run it until you find super, personally.
It will take a lot of running to start noticing any long term ill effects, and mixing then replacing with super later will be fine.

You could try looking for the additive to counteract any effect, i am sure halfords or other factors will have it, or some of the larger garages.
The main problem for most cars is long term storage with fuel, not the short term running.
Just drive conservatively and listen out for any det under load, just in case.

Cheers Craig - that is what I was thinking....!

I'm in Dartmoor, so can't do much over 40 most of the time anyway. As long as I can fill with super before heading home, I guess it will be OK.

I tried about 5 petrol stations yesterday - every one had run out of super - even the big Esso at Whiddon Down on the a30, at £1.55 per litre!

That’s unbelievable, the Government should be so ashamed of themselves, all the shortages going on and they sit on there arses and let it happen.

Sorry that wasn’t any help for you.

it's a pain, I live in the middle of the sticks so no garages local to me stock super unleaded which is unbelievable, my nearest shell garage is 20 miles away so I have to plan my days out carefully. it dosen't help that forecourt tanks are usually bigger for regular petrol and they stock far less 'super' but in the short term e10 should be fine until you can get super, its regular prolonged use that will cause issues.

I agree mate - I've been saying just that since my 5th attempt to buy super yesterday!!

By sheer luck this afternoon, I passed a little rural Texaco and they still had plenty - so happy days....

But every other garage appeared to be out of stock. The two Essos in Plymouth were out - as was the big Tesco there; and to make it worse, no-one knows when they'll be getting the next delivery. Bad show indeed :-(
