Took the car out tonight, all runing nicley, Then, I went to do a U turn and all of a sudden, the char starts doing it's impression of Chitty Chitty bang bang and starts putting and hopping. then when I stopped I got loads of smoke coming out of the back.

I spoken my mate Jay :D, who thinks it's an injector coil as there was only smoke from one side of the zorst. It also seemed to correct itself but then decided to go again.

I'm going to check the connectors tomorrow morning, anything else I should be checking ?

Stuart,

have you done anything recently to the car that could have caused this?

F.T.

Just to be on the safe side i'd check your wallet, if its full you'll be ok however its a little light you may be in the poo!;)

Good luck hope its something inexpensive.

what colour smoke? black, blue?

if it was black smoke then i guess i guess a stuck injector could cause it to overfuel causding th black smoke and rough running. Is it misfiring or what?

The smok is a dark grey (not blue) so I agree that it's got to be one of the injectors. Which are alot cheaper than a pair of turbo's LOL.

However I think Fat Tony hit on something when he said have you beed woking on anything.

Yeaterday while fitting Traction Control for a friend, I had to check the wiring on mine so I unscrewed the ECU. I think I may have broke a connection on one of the injector wires when I put it back.

That's the first thing I'll check this morning.

Thanks guys

Good luck stu hope u getted it sorted mate otherwise you will be another owner without his Z at the meet;)

Well it's 12:30 now and the meeting is well under way. But I'm not there :(.

I think I've sorted the problem though so I'm just getting changed and heading off. Fingers crossed and wish me luck !!!

Hi Stu,

Thanks a LOT for all the help on TC yesterday.....!!!

Your Z was running superb yesterday...

I personally think you probably disconnected one of the wires or something when checking the wiring on your TC and wish you all the luck to get it sorted mate

I will probably give you a call in a bit.

Could possibly be the fuel rail temp sender. Have a look for the single spaded sender, near one of the injectors on the passenger side - check the connection...

UPDATE......

I noticed that my car would only start to misfire and jump when the car gets very warm. For the first 20 mins of a journey it's fine but then starts playing up on me.

I thought it may be my temp sensor so I cut the yellow connector off and crimped on a few female spade connectors. Maybe my temp sensor has packed up.

Does this sound like it could be the cause ???. Or would you suggest replacing my PTU as well ?. Hmmmm starting to puzzle me now as the car if fine when cold.

Thanks guys !!!!.

Errr, that will be your traction control kicking in. Because you are turing a tight corner the inside wheels are traveling a lot less than the outside wheels. This is inturprited by the traction control as a skid, as your outside wheels will be traveling faster than the inside, and will start to miss fire to "try" and gain traction.

You need to increase you wheel difference thresh-hold. I think I put mine to about 4.5. I think the settings I sent you have the threshold I am using.

No Mate, It has nothing to do with Traction control. I thought that by I used traclog to check whenit was kicking in and the misfire was not caused by the TC box, it was the engine itself.

Also it feels different to when the TC box misfires the engine, it's more jumpy and power lacking.

Also how would that explain that it only happens when the car is warmed up.

Happens in a straight line as well as corners.
