I want to turn off the dimmer dashboard lights. I can not see AC... because when I turn the headlights on, dashboard lights go down.
When I drive in daytime with sunglasses I dont see the AC... because the lights on dash are dimmed.
How can I fix it, that dashboard lights will be always MAX on.

The problem is probablythe dimmer trackick gets worn out and then you can't adjust the lights.

I know what you mean, when using side lights in the day everything dims for night view. You can’t see the clock or some other things. It’s to do with a relay on the lighting system.

Yes thats it. In my country in day time we need to have the lights on. And when the lights are on everything dims for night. Thats it.

I dont know where this relay is. I cant find it. One is on the right side of the motor. There is the relay box. There is one relay for lights and I put it out and there is no diference.

Do someone know how to disable "night" dimm of dashboard.

If you snip one of the wires for the clock, it never goes dim.

It works only for the clock. It is not working on the AC.

Yes I know that ?.

I've never encountered this 'request' before, never known anyone wanting this 'modification', you need to sort this yourself, it might be something you need to snip at the back of the instrument cluster or a wire in the pod, or you could put up with what Nissan did from the factory or get some sunglasses that are not too dark ?.

I've had a look into this and there may be a way. Note, I have NOT checked this out on my car and so it is at you own risk

to try it out.

From the FSM, the Time Control Unit (TCU) controls the ON/OFF and dimming of the illumination lights. See 11 below.2020-06-11_132703.jpg.b7da4b4306eca9fccfaf2531e3c2da56.jpg

The TCU receives its signal for the exterior lights being switched on (both side and mains) on through pin 6 on the

TCU. 0v when they are off and +12V when switched on. If that signal is cut, then the TCU won't know when the exterior

lights are on and should leave all the instrumention lights on daylight brightness at all times (with the ignition switch on).

The wiring harness shows that the TCU pin 6 wire is G/R (green with red strip). The cut needs to be near the TCU as the

same signal is used elsewhere in the car. Note - there may be side effects with the TCU's other control functions (see table above)

also using this signal. I don't think there are but you will have to see. If the modification doesn't work reconnect the cut wire.

The TCU is located behind the drivers kickspace panel (small white plastic box with a green relay on one side).

Oh you take your time and make a big "job". Thanks...

I just need to check the second picture. It seems to me thats is for Z31.

I will take a look and let you know what happens.

Thanks again....

@anze300, just curious to know if you tried this out and if do, did it work? I have exactly the same problem you do and have been trying to find the solution, but this is the only automotive threat that mentions it.
