Hi folks,

My Zed has had an intermittent boot-catch problem for the last few months. Initially, it would jiggle and trigger the interior light/door open light, when driving over bumps etc. I adjusted the catch, so that the boot was more tightly closed - which cured it for a while. When it happened again, I replaced the bolts, as the brass ones had clearly become useless.

That worked for a while too - until the light started come on when I had a boot full of shopping; IE when I "squashed" the tailgate down. I then bought a second-hand boot catch from Ebay. This worked for a couple of months - and you've guessed it, the damn thing is playing up again - triggering the light and "door open" light intermittently. I am sure this has led to the battery draining, whilst the car lays unused in my garage.

I fiddled with the catch yesterday - and just could not get the lights to extinguish at all. It was also stopping the alarm from arming - as it thought the boot was open. I put the "old" boot catch back and I seem to have set it at the "right" place now. But I've removed the boot light bulb and switched off the interior light, just in case the switch randomly triggers and drains the battery again.

I did find the new OEM part listed at allcarpartsfast - however they advised it wasn't actually available. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it please - it's bloody annoying!!??

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

See if you are having the same issue (and solution) here:

In the meantime to bypass the fault you should disconnect the signal wire to the boot lock as the room lamp relay will still

be energised (and slowly draining the battery) even if you switch off the interior lamp switch.

Cheers Andrew - sounds exactly the same issue as I'm having. I'll disconnect the wire from the lock mechanism until I can fix the issue.... Nice advice; most appreciated:classic_cool:
