Take it to a proper lock smith and give him your existing key to copy, should be no problem. Tip, don't go to the likes of mister minute or you'll have a very nice cut key that won't open your car!!

Paul, have you done this urself? or do u know of sumone who has? titanium is quite tuff after all!, just dont wanna waste any cash!

Where did you get the key from?

Nissan should be able to cut it. They say they can cut ANY Nissan key.

Titanium isn't as tough as the grinding material the locksmiths cut with, but you might want to tell them it's titanium before they start, then if they cock it up they are liable for the cost of the new blank!!

Nissan tried three times to cut me a key blank from the original key and none would unlock the car, after this they tried to refuse to refund my cost of the blank!! soon shut up when I quoted trades description act though!!

I was also told they could not order me a pre-cut key from the factory, It might be that my local dealer are just shite though as the mechanic who came in while I was at the parts desk said "thats a bit flash, what make is it?" when seeing my car outside!!

Anyone with a half decent key cutting service should be able to do this.

I personally took mine to Golding's in Bedford where they charged me £1, as I had brought the blank in with me.

Key still operates perfectly.

Make sure you give them the BLACK key to copy, not the RED one, otherwise you won't be able to open your boot. :D

If you know the lock numbers then Nissan can cut the keys using a handheld machine that the have.

Not only does this exactly replicate an original key but they are obviously more accurate as you are not copying the wear of years that is on your current key.

Its quite amazing that old keys work when you compare them to a new one!

In true geek mode, I took a look - the main thing about Titanium is that it's light in comparison with other metals, not that it's much stronger (in fact, one of mine is bent :( ). For instance it's described as "as strong as steel but 45% lighter". So, assuming "normal" keys are made out of steel, it should be fine to get it cut anywhere.

Don't hold me to that though ;)

you have a boot key:eek:

lucky u!!

I only got one:(

I got a nismo key from cortesy, it cost a fookin fortune with taxes and shipping, when i took it to get cut the locksmith said that my ti key was very worn.

he was able to get the number stamped on the key, chuck it at the computer and made a new key out of it. It feels better in the lock , not as loose, not that the last one was that bad .....

£5 inc a standard blank that he tested it on .....

:)
