Well looks like I have fallen into the trap of not knowing what I was looking for, I have been working on cars for many years, but have never had to replace cam or crank seals before, I did read up about it but did not really understand about the lip on the crank, hence inside of seal pushed backwards, I do have another it is OEM as well, I suppose I can’t fix this one and should start again with the new one, is this correct?.

 

Well decided to replace, mostly back together now.

 

Not going to start it tonight just in case, wouldn’t want to waste the room I have booked tonight.

Well all back together and after 2 mins oil is leaking again only when engine is running, any help before I set fire to it.

Did you lubricate the lip of the seal with oil before fitting it??

Yes I did.

I had the same problem changed the oil seal and a car mechanic had done it before me and it leaked with him too and it did with me, bloody thing and the follow year made the alternator belt come off and rap it's self around the timing casing making the timing belt move, now a blood big job and bill, well pissed off.

Has anyone stopped this oil leak, if it starts! Yes I did put the oil seal in the right way and yes I did put oil on it before fitting and no mark on the crank to be seen to damage the oil seal and it was a proper Nissan oil seal.

 

Please advise, got another engine to fit, but would like to fix the old one too, if I can stop this oil seal from leaking!!!

Snapped crankshaft

Tony I have a replacement crankshaft for you if you want it, it will need to be reground as it did previously spin a bearing, so a free crank , reground will be a cheaper and better option for you,

It's ok thanks Happened a while ago and I ended up getting a replacement engine fitted by Jimmer and then ended up selling the Zed because we couldn;t fit our dogs in safely.

Craig is now running it for his his wife
