What software are you using here?

If it's conzult, it'll depend which version you have. The original only worked with their own interface cable. They did a later version that would would with the more generic cables though.

Programs in general, you might need to change the port in the program that it's looking for.

Thirdly - those specific cables/connectors used to be notorious for being cheap and rubbish. They were hitty miss at best as to whether you got a working one. Could be better now but I doubt it tbh.

I don't really know why you'd want that tbh. I'd probably look for something like this:

https://h-dev.co.uk/product/nistunediagnostic-cable/?v=79cba1185463

I would maybe try some of the other cheaper ones, like there's some black ones that have worked well for people I believe.

Guys quick question,How do these work or do they work,And what software is needed?14 Pin OBD1 To 16 Pin OBD2 Convertor

https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Fit-Nissan-14-Pin-OBD1-To-16-Pin-OBD2-Convertor-Adaptor-Adapter-Cable-Connectors/163671148503?hash=item261b8f87d7:g:myAAAOSwnCxavG~D

I'm not convinced that will work. OBD is a completely different protocol to the Consult protocol used by Nissan when the Z32 was built. However, I should stress that I haven't tried using one of these adapters, so maybe someone who has can come along and prove me wrong?

I have the above cable from Horsham Developments and it works great. I'm on my second cable as I sold my first one when I got rid of my first Zed. At the time I didn't think I'd be getting another one...

As diagnostic cables go it's reasonably expensive (although I've paid more for others) and works fine with both my laptop and my mobile phone!

That 14 Pin OBD1 to OBD2 looks like just a passive adapter without any active electronics so not sure how it could work converting between two different comms standards. Plus I'm not sure the Nissan Consult itself is an OBD1. I thought it was a Nissan-specific standard. I wouldn't waste my dosh.

I used to have one of those big clunky ones from Ebay - sometimes it worked, sometimes not. I would go for something more like the Horsham Developments cable referenced above. Personally, I use one of these https://ecutalk.com.au/ which I put behind the wheel. Mainly because it also has a speedo on it so there's no need to do any other km/mph conversion, I leave the clocks as they are. IMG_20190319_112521.jpg

It does other stuff - mpg, trip, monitors a lot of sensors and has a USB interface you can plug a PC into and run other s/w like ConZult. The only issue I found is that (for a reason I don't know) ConZult can't read everything (some stuff works, some doesn't) but other s/w does. Couldn't track that down. Possibly because (I read somewhere) the later cars used OBD2 through the port but don't quote me on that.

Lymon (who pops up on here occasionally) was the original developer of ConZult so maybe he knows. http://300zx-twinturbo.com/
