Hi all, love these cars, finally saved up for one. I been offered a 92 manual, tt, targa, white. 76k, vosa history, not much paper work. quite rusty underneath, needd back box, welding, no front screen, spoiler has usual damage. Needs replacing, He wants 8k for it, seems a bit steep but engine is good, any advise pls ??

There are plenty of better cars around for that money needing little or no work. That's not an 8k car, unless it has some very recent and expensive expensive upgrades on engine, brakes, interior that would be recoverable in the event that the rust is too big a job to fix.

Even then, it still sounds expensive.

Welcome to the club. Yes sounds very high, you should get a very nice car for that money.

Whoa !! hang, hang on there a little, firstly you have not been " offered " a 92 manual for £8k that has no windscreen, rusty, no paper work needing welding etc. what is happened someone tried to dupe you, con you or whatever you want to call it they were insulting your intelligence, nothing less.

Worryingly you mention "loving these cars" well no disrespect but you need to do a whole lot more research if you did not tell the person making the "offer" to f off right there and then !

There are plenty of good working zeds that can be used straight away for half that price, as I have said before there are a handful of amazing zeds in the UK and mostly owned by people on here who will likely never sell them, if you want to get to that level think of a £20k budget to spend on a good base car, and don`t think spending £20k budget on a good base car gets you a car you can sell for £20k, it does not work like that.

Would hate to put you off buying a zed but just be careful, there are some very sly people out there looking for enthusiastic buyers who get side blinded by the thought of owning an eighties supercar.

£8k for a dumper... omg heard it all now

Here is a potential project, has some less than favourable mot history of corrosion and brake problems, but hey at £5,450 buy it now, it is a way better deal than an £8k bucket of trouble, GOOD LUCK !!
