300ZX feature Project On Tavarish's Wrench Everyday Youtube Channel

Hey everyone, I thought you all might get a kick out this abomination 300ZX which is going to be featured on

"Wrench Everyday"'s YouTube channel.

Anyways if you want to know the short of the video, a YouTuber named Tavarish who has a few project cars he features rebuilds on, including a

a
and a
just to know a few, has just purchased for his second more budget friendly YouTube channel "Wrenches Everyday" a sad looking 300zx with a twist, its a VH45 powered 300zx but this car is a total mess, the original owner sold the car for $1500 USD as an unfinished project car which the owner was planning to install a diesel turbo onto his VH45 swap and then make a custom exhaust system exit through the rear center panel. The interior is shocking with a mess of of under-dash wiring loom hack job and the heater core system moved to the boot so he could fit the turbo as well as the rad support panel that has be cut to allow the radiator to fit, its pretty depressing to be honest in my mind anyways.

I've seen Tavarish's earlier videos regarding the lambo and ferrari builds which I have found interesting to watch and see some of the problems these expensive car have he has to fix. and I'm hoping he can bring this car back to a more decent state and maybe put the 300zx on the YouTube map for a little bit and help motive me to keep working on my own Z for the time being.

If you watched the video what do you guys think of this poor Z the original owner needs to be shot that is for sure.

In this episode, jared reinforces the chassis frame near the new exhaust pipe he fabricated last episode. then he pulls the 2jz enigne out of earl and discovers crappy repair work done on the LH side chassis frame from a accident earl has had in the past. Jared then cleans and paints the engine bay in spray can black to complete the engine bay look the guys are going for.

Episode 16 is Live

In this episode, jared finishes off with all the 2jz enigne related jobs to do before putting it back into earl leekers engie bay perminately.

First job to do is install the clutch and flywheel kit and then bolt the transmission to the 2zj block. Next is modifying the exhaust manifold to allow better airflow for the massive single turbo setup in the car and then bolt everthing together. And to finish off, jared fills the 2jz engine with enigne oil and installing the fuel pump and piping in the car.

Episode 17 is Live

In this episode, jared gets the 2jz engine fired up and idling on its own, he slices up the old 2jz wiring harness and strips it down to bare bones. He then jimmies the fuel pump system up to the engine harness and ECU and then fires the 2jz up.

I watched this and watched every episode. I’ve been watching Tavarish for a good couple years now. He’s a great down to earth guy and love his content. Jared is such a great mechanic and engineer; he can fix anything!! This is going to be an interesting build. It seems as though because Jared is involved, they might get this build finished. With a lot of Tavarish’s builds, he makes great progress at the start, but then progress halts because his focus goes onto big high end stuff like his recent lambos and also to be fair, the rest of the 50 cars he owns haha. I’d prefer it if he started and completed a build like he did on the TT Gallardo, but I guess they got to feed the beast and create non stop headline grabbing new content with different cool cars.

Its all about making more money with youtube im afraid. I myself are so tempted to try and start my own yt channel for my 300zx car but unfortunately unless i keep posting videos of all kinds of different cars like Tavarish, hoovier etc etc do, my video content will eventually become stale and boring to my viewers after so many months of just me fixing my z over and over again.

I still might try one day but im not sure who would really watch my content as alot of the 300X specific youtubers posting atm, are all the same with these make my z a slammed tt swapped race car on a budget.

As for this car and me being a purist that i am this build is not giving me goose bumps with the 2jz swap at all. I would have loved the guys rebuild the vg30 for crazy horsepower numbers and then a put in a nice wide body kit or something keeping it all z related. All this 2jz crap is not impressing me at all the vg30 can do the same its just that jared can build 2jz's alot more easierly then a vg30 which i believe jared wouldnt know how to rebuild and increase the horsepower to crazy numbers.

Let me put it this way it would be like putting a ferrari engine in a lambo chassis, it would be just a silly idea which is why no one does it but because the 300zx is i duno old and cheap engine swaps are the only thing you can do with them. I love my vg30 na engine and i would never swap it for another engine ever all because its the engine nissan put into the car from the factory but each to there own i guess.

Yeah I mean if you're going to start Youtube just for the 300zx, you'll be doing it to document your own works, and to help out fellow owners and us owners club members really. As you say, it won't appeal to the masses to get enough views to make money sadly, but worth doing if you want to document the work and help others.

I don't really like engine swaps for the 300zx too; the engines great as it is and can make big power just like all the other Jap turbo engines. The JZ engines are good for Toyotas and maybe 200sx's but I also just don't think its right to the do it to a Z32, especially as in the USA there's lots of specialists with knowledge to turn these VG's into high horsepower beasts. I remember when Jared was first introduced, I'm sure it was when Tavarish did the Supra, and I do remember him saying he specialises in 2JZ's, so that's probably why they went that route I guess, as you say; you don't want to be building an engine you have no experience of.

I think the whole engine swap thing is again to do with views, to do something which catches peoples eye on the video name.
