Hi folks,

I have a little project to finish - and just need a suitable ignition-on live power feed. What under-bonnet (preferably near the front of the engine bay) circuit would you suggest tapping into?

As said must be a permanent live with ignition on, only - and one with easy access... Thanks

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Ignition on feeds are few and not always the best supply to directly use, I had a problem with the same ignition on supply on my Bmw and ended up using an auto sensing relay. Works perfectly, senses the alternator output when the engine is started, also stays on for 20 seconds after engine off, cheap and very effective, connect to the battery and away you go.

What's the feed for Richard? Permanent live and ignition ON are two separate +12v supplies. There is also the ACC +12v supply.

I have installed LED bulbs to act as DRLs into the previously blank corner lights (thanks to Phutumsch…..) and need a positive feed to the relay, from a circuit that becomes live only when ignition is switched on......

….Which is why this might be a good idea - cheers Jeff.

Although I'd prefer not to remove one and re-wire in another box after all my hard work routing wires yesterday...

All I need to complete the install is a single ignition-on-only live feed to complete. The acc 12v+ supply might indeed be the one Andrew; I presume I can find that from the fuse box....? I don't want to run cables through the bulkhead; too much effort

This ignition powered on relay unit is designed to work on with drl`s and that is exactly what I used it for, and there is a bonus of been able to dim them when you switch on full headlights the same as factory fitted ones, although I did not do that, the 20 second off timer is cool too as it also mimics factory fitted drl`s.

It will save you a lot of time and install neatness is straight forward, was able to hide mine completely.

Bang on the button as ever Jeff - thank you mate....

I was using a DRL relay - and did not realise that it was already equipped to run straight from the battery. I test-wired everything in and you're dead right, it senses when the engine starts up and has a 20 second delay. Mine does not dim with headlights though; it simply switches off the DRLs. Just need to tidy up the power cables and all it done....

I'll post a few pics later:wink:
