Is there anyway of getting the pistons out without using an air compressor? Im bored, feel like doing the job but dont have access to one.

Forget that, I had a moment of inspiration! Very rare these days! I never new my lungs were so good! All that practice blowing up condoms and putting them over your head comes in useful.

It depends upon how badly stuck they are, but usually a footpump will do the trick.

I had a small tyre type air compressor that could get 100plus psi on the calipers but I still had difficulties with a couple of pistons. Resorted to putting them back on the car with the discs still off so I could put the hydraulic on and pump the buggers out with the brake pedal. Used wood blocks on the side I wasnt working on and a g clamp to hold in the pistons I didnt want to shift. Even so I had to stamp hard on the pedal and broke a cheap G clamp doing this with brake pressure and of course made a right mess with brake fluid each time the stuck piston would finally pop out. Meant a loty of bleeding etc. However it showed clearly that a stuck piston dont move with normal day to day brake pressues.

If you need the seal kit, I got one from Courtesy but don't need it.

If I remember rightly there are different seal kits for the different callipers - steel or aliminium - I think. Might be worth checking.

Hey roy the book says to put a block of wood through the center of the caliper and use aircompressor @ bleed valve to blow out the pistons. Carefull they fly out!!

good point ........ mine are aluminium j-spec

I'm pretty sure their was a difference between series 1 & 2 cars..............

Well Courtesy know what car I have and would've sent the kit for an '89 Jap spec.

 

I'll leave that to you to work out if this is what you need?
