Bit of an odd request since I have a manual.

It's for a little project I'm doing to create a telltale for a future Traction Control switch and telltale warning light utilising the spare section on the binacle normally used in automatics only.

The bezel doesn't need to be in good condition and I'm not bothered whether it's from a TT or NA as it's for a mockup only. It just needs to have what's in the below photo. If any additional pigtail can be chopped off from the corresponding harness, that would be great.

Imagine Alec might have what I'm looking for?

Sure do have a couple Si. I'll check tomorrow for you, I know I took an auto one out but not sure which one I put a gauge into.

Ok no problem, I'll have a rummage at Jim's when he's back from holiday.

Thanks for looking though.

Just a heads up on traction control, if your thinking about the Racelogic unit, well I would not bother, I stopped fitting these years ago as even when calibrated and set up as per the instructions I was underwhelmed with it, probably as I have been used to modern traction control that uses dynamic braking assist to each wheel separately rather than just reducing power via the injector pulses..... just my view that is all.

At the time RLTC was released and available, as an adjustable version of what was available in high value cars, it was a great system and worked exactly like (or better than) the other systems.

What you are describing now Jeff is Stability control, which is a much more comprehensive and integrated technology, utilising brakes and/or drive train and suspension input and control.

But you are right, there is no comparison between Traction control and Stability control, and simple TC does seem underwhelming in comparison.

Although, SC makes many people think they are far better drivers than they actually are, where they think it is their "skills" that is keeping them on the road.

Having said that, there is still a value in TC for older cars, especially with increased power, for bad weather driving, regular/reliable launches in competition, but as a driver you really need to understand the limitations or where the benefit tails off.

Where the modern ECU upgrades are giving TC capability it will still be of value, and only seem underwhelming if you have an ASC enabled car and regularly push it hard.

Yeah, dynamic brake assist is not traction control. Different systems although they work in conjunction with each other. There's nothing wrong with RLTC especially as there's little else you can do to older cars not fitted with TC. It works in exactly the same way as early factory fit systems without fly-by-wire-throttle anyway, the benefit is that you have tuneability on its sensitivity as everyone knows. There is no other way of having TC on older cars than via cutting power via injector pulses, not unless you want to fabricate a fly-by-wire-throttle system and write a program for it.

I'm going TC via an ECU which uses the ABS sensor ring to take its measurement. Works similarly to RLTC, but possibly quicker in actuation, you can change the sensitivity on the dyno. Granted, it can sometimes find it difficult in adverse weather conditions, but even factory fit modern systems have their limitations. I want the switch to be able to disengage the system as if it were a factory-fit item.
