Hi there

I am in urgent need of a Squib / slip ring to get my car through the mot. I ordered one on ebay which turned out to be wrong. I also visited a scrap yard today and removed a squib which was also the wrong one so went away empty handed. My car is a '95 'M' Non airbag

It must be the same as the one in the pictures of my old one

Please see pics

Price and P&P please if you can help

Many Thanks

Patrick

To get through the mot just remove the warning lamp. This becomes a pass and advise then. Then repair properly in your own time.

Ok that is an air bag slip ring in the photo, guessing someone has changed the wheel for a non air bag so hence the light, also the light is actually a large led soldered to the track in the speedo so no bulb to remove, you could cover it.

Jeff

Sorry. Forgetting mine is a series 4 so does use a seperate bulb.

No the steering is very much an old style non airbag one

The horn was not working because of the broken slip ring so mot fail

I never saw any warning light on the dashboard, that's not the problem

The breaker is a 1990/G non-turbo auto, does your one have a part number on it?

I have one of those off my 95 na, but as said that is an airbag wheel adapter (which mine was) , not sure if i broke it taking it out though, so will need to dig it out the garage

Just a reminder Lee that Registered users can not sell on the forum. It has to be FOC.
Of course, was not looking to sell any parts, was just trying to help 300addict if he got stuck:)
No worries Lee and nice one mate.
:) I bought the Zed years ago and have used it as a parts bin and as a mobile garage to store Zed bits in!

You say broken slip ring causing horn not to work. These dont have slip rings, they have a coil of ribon cable

Here are some photos of the one i have. Note the top of mine lifts off allowing the coil of cable to jump out, cant remember if this is meant to happen and is held together in the car or because i broke it

Yours has less wires on one side, but you can always cut the spare ones off

What yours does seem to have broken is the 2nd plastic peg, which i think is indicator cancelling ?

It's not for cancelling Ian, they're just steering wheel engagement lugs.

Hi even. Do you still have the n/a breaker I'm after the indicator cancelling ring for back of my stock wheel. It came without it

Paul

Hi Paul, yes still have it - I will have a chance to remove the steering wheel at some point in the next few days
