The Zed over the past day has refused to start. Until now it started within a second of turning the key. Now it turns over but refuses to start. Smells of fuel and the battery is six months old. I use the Zed 3-6 times a week to commute to work etc., but I suspect the starter motor has just died. Thoughts?

If after checking there is a spark, then pull the plugs out and dry off, check the connection at the front of the engine for the water temp sensor, this alone can cause flooding and non starting.

Mine had that fault the ECU sensor connection was faulty and it would flood on hot start.

The temp sensor makes sense - thanks Jeff! I have just ordered a replacement as for the cost (£11) it probably worth replacing since it looks like it was 28 years old!

Let's see if this works. The spark plugs are only 500 miles old and I checked all the coil packs at the same time (all were electrically fine).

Fingers crossed!
