Hello Guys.

It's a long shot, I know, but looking for best exhaust system money can buy for the z32. i'm in love with the AB-FLUG Power Superior Exhaust!

Amazing sounding and craftsmanship.

Cash waiting PM me if you have one that your thinking of letting go or know someone?

Ha!! Nice try Steve :tt2: isn’t yours a Swb though? I’d say you’d have to join the queue for one:innocent:

LOL its the dog's *****cks mate! Yes it is a SWB but I'll make it fit ie modifying it.

I will be interested in seeing how you go about modding one to fit.

Looks like new now top job! Very yummy sell me them muffelrs mate! Lol

There’s been a few on Yahoo auctions recently, but expect to pay over £1000 for one in decent condition plus shipping

Edit due to just finding out even the back boxes are totally different between the two models well that's ruined that idea lol

literally only want the mufflers and get the rest fabricated up.

I've left a message with Simon Davis who runs EMP performance expensive but they are very good with attention to detail.

I'll see what he says if he can replicate this system I'll get him to do me a complete custom job.

Differences

It’s to do with the pipe bends as the fuel tanks are different, it would be a total waste of money to spend £1k plus shipping/ Duties to cut it all up and pay more money to get the correct bends put in place.

You can buy 3” SpecialtyZ backboxes with the twin pipes for $800 plus shipping/ duties.

Topman appreciate your help I'll go ahead and order one tonight happy days.

And you're absolutely right about cutting it up and spending all that money.

You can buy a 3” SpecialtyZ cat back with the twin pipes for $800 plus shipping/ duties.

Where from Ritchie?

Catback system 3" on their site is more than that....https://specialtyz.com/shop/sz-3-catbacks-tt.html

Apologies, i've edited the post, It was in the ad I put up though, stating mufflers only (no X pipe). Steve was only looking for mufflers:thumbup1:

I do like their quad exhaust. Can and one tell me what’s the difference between the x-pipe open or resonated?

Resonated one has smallish expansion box or boxes in it. This provides a low pressure expansion chamber to speed up exhaust gases from an NA engine. not required for this purpose with turbos forcing exhaust gases out.

It makes both NA and TT cars a litle quieter

I dont have a cross pipe on my custom made NA exhaust so i have expansion boxes in both pipes. This is to avoid loss of midrange torque. How much noise reduction will depend on how much if any packing in in the boxes.

Mine is designed to pass noise tests at all the UK tracks but still give me good mid range power as well as WOT power.

It works for me.

Others may think differently.

The other related consideration is cross sectional area or diameter on the pipes.

Once again its quite critical on any NA engine. turbo engines can usually stand bigger pipes.

Too big on an NA engine loses mid range torque.

Thanks mate. I’d rather understand how something works than just be told it’s “tamer”. Did the AB-FLUG have resonates fitted? That video that was posted makes me think probably not.

The AB-Flug Superior and the Veilside Evolution use small resonators in the mid section with an H-section just before. The mid sections are actually absolutely identical. In fact other than style of the back box, they're almost the same, they were actually made in the same factory and sound very very similar in note.

You did just ask what the difference was. The science behind a resonator in an exhaust system is to reduce noise normally in

the form of raspiness by expanding a section of the exhaust pipe to a larger diameter which allows the sound waves to reflect

off the walls and cancel out. The length and diameter of the resonator determines the frequencies at which it is most effective

in a particular application. An advantage of resonator is that it introduces little back pressure in doing its job.

Project 1547 - Out of the Blue

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

I've acctually felt a substantial difference with certain exhaust systems when they are drastically different.

eg:

Z32 TT with mongoose-style , 2.25" pipes, h-pipe, middle boxes and big back-boxes small tips = even power and substantial mid-range.

Z32 TT with kakimoto single-exit 3.5" pipe, y-pipe, tiny middle box and free-flowing big bore backbox = drop in response and mid-range but more power up-top.

Mk3 golf VR6

stock exhaust = even power and decent mid-range.

2.5" straight pipe to rolled tip, no resonators = **** all torque and **** all up top lol. What a drop in power it made across the board!

Had various honda's etc. and didn't really notice much of a power difference with various exhausts.

:confused:I’m not sure what you’re getting at here. Yes I did ask that and now I know a few of the differences between the two systems. I also have a better understanding why they work, what they’re trying to achieve, other makes that get the same results and so on. So thanks everyone! Apologies to the OP if it looks like I’ve hijacked your thread.:blushing:
