Guys,

Looking for some help with wheel widths and offsets please, from you gurus out there.

My current set up is as follows:

Fronts - 9J x 18 et +24 (235/45 IIRC)

Rears - 10J x 18 et -31 (295/35)

I am considering some Work Equip wheels, they are:

9x18 et+22

8x18 et +22

The fronts seem easy I can use the 9x18 Works on the front with just a small difference to what I have now. The rears are way off. I am happy to run up to 12 on the rears, in theory is it just as simple as buying new outer barrels for the 8x18,giving me a decent dish. ( I do not want to be running any spaces)

Funky and JoelP be gentle with me if I am talking rubbish here.

Good set of Image wheels for sale soon if this pans out :cool2:

Did you try the offset calculator? Here is another with perhaps a better description of the results terminology:

Try putting in your existing size 10J et -31 into the "current" wheel and 8J et +22 into the new wheel and you

can start to see how things are moving about relative to what you have now and an indication of the new barrel

size(s) you need.

That’s a good link thanks.

So inputting all the dims my rear wheel would move 1.1” nearer to the suspension, and I would need a 3.09” new outer lip to keep the same distance from the wheel arch. So if I knew the sizes of the Works wheels inner and outer barrels I could work out what size outer lip, I would need to purchase so the outer lip face is pretty much where mine are now.

Yes, it gives you an approximation of what is required.

Update - the Equip's current inner barrel will move in by 1.1". The new outer barrel width will be 3.09" plus the Equip's current outer barrel width.

Yes, you will need the dimensions of the barrels as the centre of the wheel where wheel offset is measured from is not

necessarily the same as the offset of the spokes and barrels joint relative to it (as I have arrowed below). There is another

calculator I have found which works for split rims using barrel dimensions. I have not played around with it much but it

should help you get closer to what you need:
