Hey Folks!

Now this might be a long shot, but I’m desperately in need of finding the previous owners of my Z. From the info I can find on the internet, there has been 2 owners in the UK. First owner aquired the car on June 11th 2005 where it was imported from Japan, and second owner got the car on April 11th 2008. The car was then exported to Denmark on July 10th 2012.

I know the name of the second owner, but cannot seem to find any contact information.

My problem is that now I want to register the car here in Denmark, the inspection Company needs to see the previous V5C in order to register it. All other possibilities to register has been shut down by the government ?

When I bought the car from another Dane, I didn’t get the V5C. I traced down the guy who imported the Vehicle to Denmark, and he told me that he was never given the full V5C from UK. That’s why I have a small hope that one of the previous owners of my car will be able to provide me with the missing document in order for me to finally get to drive my beloved Z on the roads ?

The old registration nummer from UK is K648PHW and here is a picture of the car. If you need more information, feel free to ask me and I will do my best to provide them.

Thank you All very much for any help ??

Thanks mate, unfortunately I’ve already got one of these, and it was not good enough for the inspection guy

I have got the V5C/2 slip, but as I am not a citizen in the UK I am not able to use that to apply for a new V5C either.

Had the car been officially recorded as exported by the DVLA?

I have an official document called certificate of permanent export, but Yesterday I bought a VIN check on Cazana, and in that report, my car is not stated as exported. So I don’t know actually

I know the name of the second owner, but cannot seem to find any contact information.

Why don't you contact the DVLA here in the UK and explain what your problem is and see if they can help you?

The car is shown as exported on their system. You know the name of the last owner in the UK which will match their records. Give

the DVLA that name. You can supply them with a copy of the V5C/2 slip the details of which will match their records. You could also

give them the VIN which uniquely identifies the car in your possession plus any documentaton which shows the car being imported

legitimately into Denmark.

the previous owner wont have the V5c, as they will have sent it to DVLA when they sold it

You might have a point in giving Them the information that I got. That Way they might be more likely to understand my issue and maybe help me out. Haven’t thought of it that way.

I already talked to them twice on the phone, and they only told me that they could do nothing but send me a certificate of permanent export. I think I’ gonna email them this time, and see if I can give a better explaination that way :)

If the car is permanently exported the owner fills in the V5C/4 and returns that to the DVLA. The rest of the V5C is passed

onto the new owner.

The reverse of the V5C/4 states:

"Keep sections 1 to 8 of this certificate (the registration authorities of the country the vehicle is being exported to will need them).

If you sell a vehicle to someone who is taking the vehicle out of the uk permanently you do not send the v5c to DVLA you give it to the new owner with the car and inform the DVLA via a letter stating what has happened.

You only fill out and send th v5c to the DVLA if YOU personally export the vehicle.

Are you sure that is correct?

That’s what I said, if YOU PERSONALLY are taking the vehicle abroad you fill out the Relavant V5C section and return it to 5he DVLA, but if you sell it to someone who takes it out of the uk you give them the whole V5C and notify the DVLA by letter.

When you sell a car to someone who takes it to Europe YOU aren’t exporting it, you must give the new owner the whole V5C so they can register it in their country and you notify the DVLA via a letter.

The last uk owner of the Z in question should have passed the whole V5C to the chap who bought the car from Denmark (if the uk owner didn’t take the car their himself).

I sold 2 Mazda RX7’s last year to a chap from Belgium and gave him the V5C for both cars and he registered them no problem, I notified the DVLA via a letter and received confirmation I was no longer the registered keeper.

You are right, but according to the first Danish owner of my car, he never managed to get the V5C from the seller. And that’s what bothers me now

Thats where the mistake was made. The uk owner probably returned the V5C to the DVLA saying it had been exported. Correspondence with the DVLA via letter or Email is probably your best option. Phone calls are pointless trust me.

As the DVLA record shows it has been permanently exported they may not help at all unfortunately.

Yeah, it seems like no Big decitions can be made by telephone, although they are very polite to talk to. I wrote them a kind letter last night, so now I can do nothing but wait and hope for the best.

Thank you very much :)

So, I got the reply from DVLA, and it was not positive :( here’s What they wrote:

Dear Mr Pedersen,

Thank you for your enquiry received on 28/3/2018.

Your case reference number is 00537834.

We appreciate that you have taken the time to contact us in relation to this matter.?

It may be helpful if I explain that it is not possible to send a V5C Registration Certificate to an address outside the UK.

If a vehicle is permanently exported, we are only able to send a Certificate of Export in order for the vehicle to be registered in the foreign country.

We would only issue a new V5C if the vehicle was brought back into the UK and re-registered.

I am sorry I have not been able to provide a more favourable response. If you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Do not reply to this email. If you wish to contact us again about this response then please use our reply form link or copy and paste the following URL in to your browser:

Can any of you guys please tell me how it works, and What will be the easiest way to get my car registered in the UK, get the new V5C in hand, and exporting the car back to Denmark? Will I have to get help from a UK citizen or can I, as Danish citizen do the registration?

That is exactly the reply i expected you to receive.

If you have a cert of export i cant see why danish authorities cant register your car.

Bringing the car to the uk and registering it only to export it again would be financially unviable.

You’re right, and I too cannot see why the inspection guy won’t accept the export document, but that’s What they told me. I guess to begin with, I could try to talk to them again and ask for alternatives
