What are peoples' thoughts on having different diameter wheels on the two axles? 18" front and 19" rear, for example?

I seem to remember it was quite a popular thing for SW20 MR2s back in the day, but how about on our beasties...?

Very popular on the NSX, I think it lends itself well to the wedge shape, bringing balance to the car’s dimensions. You could argue that the Z offers the same characteristics but I can’t help but think the 2+0 isn’t quite long enough to pull it off. One of the Aus (I think) club members has done it using original wheels from a 350z that had 18s on the front and 19s on the back, but it was a 2+2.

Two Issues I can think of Insurance and speedo

Tony

I'd imagine with the right tyres to have nearly the same rolling radius, it shouldn't be any worse than fitting larger wheels in general?

Yup - that's my thought too....

Just drop the rear profile by another 5% over what you'd do for having the same diameter rims....

So assuming front is currently 235/40/18, where you might have 265/35/18 on the rear, go for 265/30/19. Job done....

As for insurance, it should be no more of an issue than any other wheel upgrade.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
