Club Weekends 2018

For 2018 we are trying to plann some club specific weekend events, rather than just daily events, covering the 3 main region of North, Central and South.

All events include details of a hotel, and you can choose to stay at the same place, or somewhere else, or just attend the days you want to join us if local, up to you.

Northern Event:

Spring Bank Holiday Weekend, 25th-28th May. (This clashes with Modified Nationals in Peterborough, so could try to move this if members plan to attend ModNats).

Exact dates to be confirmed, but either 25th-27th or 26th-28th.

This is just an idea of the itinerary, and will vote or finalise nearer to the time.

Day 1: Drive a route around the Southern Lakes and Yorkshire Dales

Day 2: Visit Lakeland Motor Museum

Myself and Richard will both be staying at the Fat Lamb, who have provided a weekend deal for us as a club, for anyone else that wants to stay.

The Fat Lamb, Crossbank, Ravenstonedale, Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria, CA17 4LL

Call Paul on 015396 23242

£250 for 2 people for 2 nights, including breakfast and evening meal for both days. The evening meal is from a special menu, not the main menu.

Dedicated thread https://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?188554-Lakes-Weekend-Fat-Lamb-Inn-in-May

Central Event and AGM: TBC

14th-15th July

Saturday: Drive a route and visit Donington Grand Prix and Military Collection

Sunday: Coventry Transport Museum and AGM

Staying at the same Premier Inn at Hinckley as previous years Saturday night.

Coventry Road, Hinckley LE10 0NB

Southern Event:

27th-29th July

Saturday 28th: Drive a route around New Forest and Dorset Coast, or visit Haynes International Motor Museum, or Bovington Tank Museum. To vote and confirm nearer to the time.

Sunday 29th: Attend Simply Japanese at Beaulieu

Friday and Saturday, I will be staying at Premier Inn Southampton West, Romsey Road, Ower, Romsey, SO51 6ZJ.

Will probably plan an event towards end of September, region and venues to be confirmed.

Ideas and feedback welcome.

Will break these out into separate threads once we get an idea of interest.

Thanks for organising these events on our behalf Craig & Co.

although some of them are piggy backing with other events, we are trying to make them more of a weekend and social event.

aligning with existing events makes it easier to justify a long journey and/or staying away for a change.

hopefully, its a case "build it and they will come" Andrew ;-) although the Beaulieu and AGM are already well attended on the specific days

As a "new event," the Northern one sounds good. There's some great roads and scenery around the Lakes and the Dales. :thumbup1:

good news guys.

the hotel owner already has a bunch of decent routes available, as he caters for car clubs already, so i am hoping we can sort out a good agenda for a couple of days over the long weekend. and even if you don't stay there or if you are local, it would be good to all meet and eat together the night in between

Southern event is two weeks after Festivel of Spped (my busiest time of the year) so that perfect for me. :cool3:

Even though I'm in Colchester, I'd be interested in the southern meet, my missus says we could stay an extra few days and have a little break along side this.

your beulieugh dates are a bit wrong. its sunday 29th

I'm up for the lakes, but also need a "got no mates "room

AGM moved a week earlier this year?? clashes with work, cant go :(

We are going Friday night, to get an easy start in the morning, but might think about extending to Monday or Tuesday as well, as it's school hols. Waiting to hear on dates for a bike tour though.

Sorted dates, cheers. Hopefully will have a price on those later.

Fat Lamb looks a lovely venue to stay and tour from. So a likely yes for 2 people for 2 nights from us.

Nice one Andrew.

Anyone wanting to book the Fat Lamb, there are only 12 rooms, so better book if you are thinking about going.

Although all rooms are reserved for us as we have booked the weekend as a club.

Paul will book you for the whole weekend, until we sort out which 2 nights we want, although you can stay all 3 if you want to pay the extra. I might do this with the family, not sure yet.

Wont need a deposit yet, but he will contact you for £50 deposit nearer the time when we confirm the details probably in February.

I will ask him if there are any other local places to recommend.

If we can discuss which days we want to go and get that agreed soon with a poll, then can discuss what to do on those days and set up a poll to agree the format later.

The day choice depends on arriving Friday night through bank holiday traffic, or arriving Saturday and travelling home on a bank holiday Monday.

have requested that for you Joel. not a family weekend then? ;-)

Single occupancy price is £155 for 2 nights on the group deal (50% + £15/night supplement)

Couple of other details about the rooms:

we need 9 rooms booked to qualify for the group discount prices;

maximum of 33% of rooms can be single occupancy for the group rate.

can I have one of the 33% please

  • 2 weeks later...

The best drive in the southern lakes is to start in Ambleside and then tale the road up the Langdale Valley. At the end of the valley take the HardKnott pass and then the Wrynose Pass and turn right at the end for Wasdale. Drive along wasdale lake and at the end is the wasdale Head Pub where they do excellent food and drink.

Leave wasdale head by driving back along the lake and then don't take the road over the passes but take the road to Kirby Bridge Fabulous views on this road.

It's a good day if you you can do it !

My wife is up for joining me with the northern meet so I’ll go for a 2 person room depending on dates. How soon can these be confirmed? My wife is working Friday 25th and so she wouldn’t be able to make that one, but the Saturday to Monday combo works.

Maybe a new thread could be started specifically for this event?
