What are people using on here now days for increased power for basic mods and around 14 psi boost?

I have read a lot of older threads but nothing too recent about this.

I see that Protuner is the best place to go for a custom map. As for chips I read that Turbonoz chips are good and still seems to be available from the Turbonoz website. Has any current member used the Turbonoz chip or can recommend another which is readily available?

Thanks for your replies.... Sorry I've caused some issues

You asked a reasonable question. Ali has given you a reasonable answer. What is your intention and budget? Have you preformed and/all your service and prevention stuff, such as oil, cambelt etc all up to schedule?

My intention is to hit mid 300's, maybe slightly more.

Just had full cambelt change, oil change etc.

So looking to do a modest power increase in the new year.

Cool have a look at this;

You will want you ECU socketed, this gives you options. Mine was done by a member on here, I won’t say who cos it’s not fair to volunteer them.

With what your suggesting I’ve typically witnessed about 330-340bhp at 14psi. I’m currently running a Turbonoz chip but it’s a bit rich at WOT running low 11 AFRs. Few more mods than your planning. The car makes good power though, it went on the dyno last year and made just shy of 380fwhp.

Hate it when members fall out but thats life and we move on. I have one word for everyone "Respect"

I think, that what is lost sometimes in forums and maybe groups of any kind is that it is not compulsory to like everyone, but loosing one`s temper and making or airing direct personal view against another member is kind of frowned upon and rightly so, Anyhow on an up note the OP has got some answer`s to his question and some options too which is great.

Half the problem here is, hiding behind a keyboard has all but destroyed the value of a good face-to-face arugment, consquential scrap and the making up afterwards. It's just left to stew. Much better to have a quick brawl outside a pub, shake hands and carry on drinking together till you're both pissed.

Saying that a bit of controvery does liven up an otherwize droll environment for those stuck indoors all night, bit like a soap ;)

From what I read you've both given good advice, Funkysi (god I hate using forum handles) - you have many years experience of z owernship, Jeff - you've produced ECU chips and have years of tuning knowledge presumably so speak from a technical standpoint. The Original guy has found out what he wants. Now shake hands n make up guys, it's Christmas.

Just use Si or Simon. And Jeff is not a ECU chip maker or tuner, but a retired Z specialist. But lets move on :)

Cheers for clearing up. Both wize people none-the-less with good advice to give and take heed of :-) Alic, I've been meaning to ask do you have that Impul front bumper on your Z? I recall a silver one on here about 10 years ago that was silver with that bumper, looked delicious.

It is an impul car so all the impul bells and whistles including bodykit ECU sway bars. The silver one belongs to SLICKTOP and is probably my favourite club car.b65aee8cf6e7adea416f51da1dd6cddb.jpg

This is a mapping thread though I'll try not to clutter it :)

THATS the one... ooft, the only bumper nicer than the 99 spec imo. No worries pal :p mapping or scrapping?

Great outcome for the OP, personally not fallen out with anyone think Si has an issue though ??

  • 3 weeks later...

I tried different things with a standard engine and the best results was fitting EBC Control, High Flow Pod air filter, a high flow cat back dual exhaust system, NISTune ECU, The results on 98ron was 320 RWHP @ 6200RPM - 436lbs/ft. Torque @ 3400 RPM @ 13 PSI Boost. Using standard injectors and if the engine is in good condition it is not a lot of work to do for this result.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Just a slight word of warning.... I had my ecu socketed and I had a generic chip fitted, I really cant remember who it was from, but the moral of the story is

it was a cheap chip that detonated and ruined two of my engines, ( many years ago now ) So be sure to get as much info and reviews you can about the remap or chip you want. Many people here can help you out.
