Hi, Ive bought a 92 TT auto just over a month ago. Its not done much mileage since it was imported 15 years ago and needs some maintenance on it, to turn it into a daily commuter (8 miles a day), and I was just looking for some advice.

From what I can see the car needs new tyres, brake and the cam belt doing.

Can anyone recommend decent pads and discs for road use. Ive seen the brembo front pads and pagid discs, and pagid rear disc and pads on euro car parts, and was wondering whether it would be advisable to put money towards ebc redstuff pads and discs, or tarox discs. And is it worth paying for drilled/grooved over standard brakes for fast road use?

Im also looking at changing the 17 inch alloys with 235/45 tyres for some 18's, possibly 350z forged ones, would it be wise to go for a thinner profile such as 40 or 35 with the increase in alloy size? And what tyres would be good to go with the car? I'm looking at michelin pilot sport 4's but they are expensive.

As I need to get the cambelt done, as its not been done in several years, could anyone recommend a place which knows 300zx's within the West Midlands/Warwickshire area?

Id also be looking at a possible remap in the future to take advantage of the Japspeed exhaust, so advice on a place to take it to would be appreciated.

Would there be much difference if put 225/40 instead of 235/40 on the front and 255/35 instead of 265/35 on the rear. Would it affect the Speedo much because I can save £80 by going for 10mm narrower tyres

This is the specification table for Toyo T1-S tyres (other manufactures have similar tables). You can compare the overall diameters for the

tyres sizes above and work out the % differences.

Picked up these yesterday, 9.5j all around. The offset is 30 from my measurements

Ive ordered these tyres for the front https://www.camskill.co.uk/m61b0s322p135333/Michelin_Tyres_Car_Michelin_Pilot_Sport_4_PS4_-_235_40_R18_%2895Y%29_XL_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_C_Wet_Grip%3A_A_NoiseClass%3A_2_Noise%3A_71dB

and these for the rear https://www.camskill.co.uk/m61b0s66p135328/Michelin_Tyres_Car_Michelin_Pilot_Sport_4_PS4_-_265_35_R18_%2897Y%29_XL_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_C_Wet_Grip%3A_A_NoiseClass%3A_2_Noise%3A_71dB

I'm certain the rears will fit, but will it be safe to run the tyres stretched on the front alloys? and well there be clearance considering the width of the alloys?

This one is by far the worst

So the coilovers. The Flex Z (the expensive one) has more ride height adjustment than the other two, and a slightly higher spring rate at 8/6kg compared to 7/5kg.

You might not need all the arms in that kit, but if you lower the car it will gain a noticeable amount of camber so it would be advisable to get adjustable camber arms front/rear to level out the wheels and also makes sure your tyres will wear evenly.

They both use the OEM top mounts

So the coilovers. The Flex Z (the expensive one) has more ride height adjustment than the other two, and a slightly higher spring rate at 8/6kg compared to 7/5kg. The two cheaper ones are 0.5cm difference in ride height adjustability, but the more important factor (if im correct in saying) is that the cheaper one says it reuses the OEM top mounts, whereas it looks like the middle priced option uses its own top mounts.

You might not need all the arms in that kit, but if you lower the car it will gain a noticeable amount of camber so it would be advisable to get adjustable camber arms front/rear to level out the wheels and also makes sure your tyres will wear evenly.

So would it be better to have the ones which reuse the OEM top mounts or the ones which come with their own? Or would it not make a difference?

Would an allignment help prevent uneven tyre wear with camber, and would it make a great deal of difference just justify the £250 cost of buying front and rear camber arms?

Am I correct in assuming the suspension drop would be 20mm, Or is that the minimum drop?

Ive just had another look at the page and although the other one doesn't say it doesnt use OEM top mounts, there are no mounts in the picture so I would say probably both use OEM top mounts. So after all I don't know why you would go for the 430 ones, as the 370 are effectively the same product.

An alignment wouldnt solve the whole problem. This is the camber gained by lowering to the point that the tyres are level with the arch:

IMG_20160404_182311.jpg

Its not too bad but will cause uneven wear.

The drop is quoted here:

Ride Height Adjustable Range Front Axle (mm)

-66 to 0

Ride Height Adjustable Range Rear Axle (mm)

-59 to 9

for the 370 ones. So a drop of 6.6cm maximum drop front, and 5.9cm rear.

All my local tyre shops wanted £15 a corner to put the tyres on and balance them. Took them to a place and they wouldn't go on!

The wheel nuts on the car have some weird collar at the bottom of the nuts stopping them from connecting to the alloys. I bought a locking wheel nut set for the car so now I have 1 nut for each alloy. Can anyone recommend some normal wheel nuts to go on the alloys? Would I need to look for ones specific to my Bola B1 alloys?

I was also asked what tyre pressure i want them at. I had no idea what the ideal tyre pressure is. Is there an ideal tyre pressure for the stretched 235's and 265's?

28 cold. Thats my rule of thumb. 30ish then adjust to driving style and season and stuff. Perhaps 30 cold in winter. 27 in summer. (Standing by to be wrong )

I wouldn't necessarily go for a whole set of fancy arms. I haven't got them, but I have some, a couple of my joints polybushed. Here's me thinking:

1)Rose bushes can wear out more quickly than OEM style ones.

2)Someone on here... zed racer??? Got the full set and it took a shop like 5 hours to align his infinitely adjustable suspension and it cost him something like 500 pounds!

3)It is very possible to ruin a car with VNH, my experiment with this was an out of balance propshaft, kt was absolutely undriveable. If I ever VNH'd my car like that with solid collars or whatever I'd be furious with myself.

4)The cars handle fine without them.

I probably will fit them at some point
