And the icon on this light is?

its two oblong lines and at the top it looks as if its showing wavey lines as if its heat or something? hope this helps

Thats the CAT heat pipe I believe.

Your cats are over heating or the connection has come lose. Does the car have test pipes on?

would this prevent the car from starting and how do i check it?

Im not too sure if it would stop the car from working. I think its only on Jap cars, but I cant see why it should stop the car from working.

Are any lights flashing when you try to start the car?

Stuart

no nothing else other than the red light, the engine just spins without any spark i think

Dunno about the light on the dash but if the engine is turning over without a spark you should check the PTU and connectors - especially if it's a series 1 PTU (the silver one with cooling fins) and you're over 60K.

Have you tried the ECU diagnositcs??

I had a problem with the engine not turning over when I tried to start the other day. I'd been rooting around the electrical connectors though and the HICAS connector had come apart, worth checking what you can see, particularly if you've been under the bonnet recently...

Cheers!
