1991 300zx Twin Turbo Auto JDM Metallic Black

This is a very reluctant sale of my Zed. I’ve thought long and hard and with no storage or enough use for a 2nd car at the minute I’d hate for it to deteriorate not being used so I’ve decided to sell her.

This has been pretty much my main car on-off since I bought it nearly 2 years ago and has been SORN’d today.

Folder of receipts including work documented below.

- 99,000km (61k miles)

- 3 previous UK owners (documented)

- MOT March 2018

- 2 keys, alarm fob and immobiliser key

Wheels:

- JDM Autostada Magnesium wheels 18x9+10 these would have cost in the region of $1500 EACH brand new and are a high end single piece wheel

Suspension/Steering:

- Adjustable FUCA’s (slight creak on O/S needs greasing)

- Adjustable track rods (Japspeed), steering rack boot followed by a 3D enlightenment

- Rear Koni yellow struts and springs

- PAS pump, Hydroscand PAS lines and full flush and change (they'll all suffer from it at some stage, this has been sorted).

Brakes:

- FF : Blueprint disks and Brembo pads (almost new)

- RR : Rear Mintex pads

- Brand new BMC

Drivetrain:

- Autobox replaced with low mileage unit with new rear crank shaft seal and retainer, rear shaft seal, sump filter, sump cleaned with new gasket and full flush and fill with Dexron 2.

- Front mount trans cooler to aid cooling

Engine:

- Cam belt change at 64km .

- New MRP turbos at a cost of £1300 (around 10km)

- Regular servicing (documented) Nanodrive, K+N oil filter/fuel filter/platinum plugs /air filter/coolant flush

- Nismo oil and rad caps

Interior/Audio:

- Interior replaced with series 2+ alcantara/leather which is clean for it's age but front seats need refurbishing, rear custom bench is very good.

- High end 90’s Alpine 9812 stereo with inbuilt amp (12v) and remote with JL components (Inphase tweeters mounted on door cards) no rear speakers (never fitted)

- Full window closure alarm r/cl and immobiliser

- Roof bags, visors and boot blind still present

- Original mats

Exterior:

- Genuine 99 spec rear lights.

- High level spoiler.

- Clean shell, never been welded and is pretty much rust free.

- Clear side repeaters and front indicators

Items that need attention:

- AC belt needs replacing (Brand new continental one included)

- ABS light on (never effected braking)

- Passenger wing needs replacing - no visible damage but bottom bolt has snapped (spare included)

- Spoiler deteriorated slightly (boot struts also need replacing)

- Some chips, scuffs and scratches

- Slight targa leak

- Some interior fabrics bubbling

Overall it’s a clean car that’s been well maintained mechanically and has never let me down. It turns heads wherever it goes, although it needs cosmetic work it wouldn't take a lot to make it a really good example

As for price I’m going to be pretty firm at £4,000

Please feel free to ask any questions, any inspections are welcomed as long as any party is genuinely interested in buying.

Any thoughts/opinions lads?

I don't usually like comments on an advert if its not from interested parties but I'd like to hear what people have got to say on here, I specifically renewed my membership so I could put something back for the help and parts I've managed to source and to get some feedback because it's now on ebay and I'm only expecting to have my time wasted tbh lol.

Cheers

Not quite sure what type of thoughts or comments you're looking for but as a start point there is waaayyyyyyyy too much text and waffle in your advert. Appreciate that it's a car you've loved and have spent time caring for, but folk don't really want or need to read something as long as that. More photos integrated into the advert rather than links and MUCH less text - it can put people off.

Just wanted to know what people on here who actually know about these cars thought to mine and the price.

Yeah I appreciate that, it's just when you're buying a car and there's very little to know info it's like getting water out of a stone from some sellers and I wanted people to be confident about buying it.

Tbf the long advert was more to be transparent and stop all the obligatory questions on ebay so if they make an offer on it then it's binding and I'm not having them come round AFTER to then start tyre kicking and wasting my time. Admittedly my own thoughts on the car have definitely got in the way and yours shows that I've definitely gone in too far with details but I'd rather undersell a car on condition so that there's no disappointments.

Your advert layout is MUCH better and I'm going to use that tbh, much less shit and straight to the point, conveying my own thoughts on the car are pretty irrelevant hey.

Thanks for that mate.

No problem at all.

As for the extra parts, that really is your call. I'd be inclined not to mention it and use it as a bargaining tool as/when/if they come to discuss pricing. The parts might not be what they want anyway, so you could sell them separately should they not be of interest.

  • Author

Yeah very good points, I appreciate your input, it's much more concise now.

Do you personally think it's worth it without the parts thrown in then? Like you say include them if needed to make a deal?

Potentially; it's very difficult without clear and crisp photos. A rust free shell is however a rarity! I'd be inclined to fit the AC belt though and if the wing is the same colour, swap that over too.

  • Author

Yeah tbf the photos are pretty poor aren't they. Light hasn't been great when I've getting home either. Will take some better ones this weekend.

Will try and get round to sorting those out.

Thanks again for that.

One picture is worth 1000 words.

Im not trying to boast or anything but look at my average parts for sale ads.

Lots of big pics

Short factual description

Like this one..................https://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?188410-Mike-Smith-Manifolds

On a personal note.. I have seen this car briefly ... its no oil painting for sure but IMO appears to be a good solid middle of the road car. Pretty much as described by its owner.

Some attention to detail and it could be a very nice car.

  • Author

Nah it's not boasting Pete, you're right, I definitely need to sort some better pictures out mate.

Yeah in the original ad I put that you said it was a good honest example and had the base to be a very nice car, it was good to hear tbh.

Hopefully it goes to someone who will spend some time/money and get it to the level it deserves.

They're good cars and I would like to own another in the future, a SWB one without the need for back seats!

Pay someone to spend a few hours giving it a machine polish, it will make a huge difference as the paint looks fairly bad.

With the fading and oxidation removed and the gloss increased it will make a huge visual difference.

First impressions are everything.

  • Author

Yeah I appreciate that but tbh I think it's fairly priced as it is considering what's been replaced etc.

It's a 27 year old car that's been used everyday, it's cleaner than many I've seen so overall I'd say the paint work isn't that bad, yes compared to a detailed car it isn't but neither are 80% of 27 year old cars out there, It's not a garage queen that gets taken out once a month, it's got the potential to be that but that will be down to the new owner's needs.

I don't want to come across as dismissive because it is a fair point when being critical but I've sold/owned a lot of cars, admittedly my first advert was way over-done but that's because it's a car I've owned and used and I'm posting on a forum so wanted to convey that.

Funkysi's compressed version was much simpler and to the point so I used it, I'm not new to them though and I've owned pretty much most Japanese performance cars worth owning, it's a good honest car and it's shell is cleaner than a lot of the ones I've seen. Paint can be rectified with a few hours work.

It could go into a catch 22 cycle of doing that, then wanting to do more and asking more or wanting to keep it for longer. A good friend who is a professional detailer has offered to do it for a good price and if it takes a while to sell I'll consider it but I don't want to get it done and then it sit out doing nothing if it doesn't sell quick.

I've already turned down 5 offers so I'm expecting it to sell as is for close to my asking price without putting anymore time or money into it tbh.

Will it look better with a detail? Definitely. Will it determine if it will sell or not at around my asking price? I don't personally think so but the options there.

Cheers

She's now gone to a good home for the full asking price.

They're great cars, just not practical for a growing family to use everyday BUT a fantastic car overall and I'll definitely consider owning one again when the time suits to get a project/weekend car.

Cheers lads.
