This is my second ZX .Original one visibly modified and serviced in Maldon - eventually stolen and never seen again.
Almost immediately bought this one which was in lovely condition. One day blew cylinder head gasket - Maldon crew out of business by then so had used a local Scottish garage for servicing etc which was fine.
Garage took it in but eventually said as they couldn't get it running properly must have suffered overheating damage - agreed engine import and replace.
This was eventually done after very long delay but car started to misfire day after returned to me. Electronics guy sent up to home to analyse, did some work .We went out for test drive and it ran perfectly. Next day same inconsistent firing. Gave up on that garage and gave it to another one on the recommendation of another ZX member. Unfortunately they were even less efficient than the first garage so Eventually I got it trailers back .
By that stage having paid for replacement engine and fitting I gave up in disgust and the poor beast has been sitting in my driveway ever since.
It is now at best a restoration project for anyone who has the time ,expertise and desire to get it back on the road in looking as it should.
I have a spare set of original wheels and tyres from my first modified car and the original exhaust system which was replaced by full race Maldon kit. These can be part of any deal.
It's clearly not a buy and drive away job so only enquire if you are interested in restoring or buying and trailering away for parts scavenging.
Everything original except fitted with Race Logic traction control Black leather interior, auto box most of original tool kit .
Also have for sale an almost A1 condition book Called " Nissan 300ZX The Enthusiasts Companion ".
This was first published in 1990 .It's 112 pages, divided int 6 chapters covering:
1. Development of the new 300ZX
2.Technical Analysis.
3.Making Nissaan's sports car.
4.Road Test - The variants assessed.
5.Z - car history
6. A racing certainty a look at the Z's racing program
Would prefer to sell the book with the car but am open to best offer from anyone .
Last but not least why has it taken me so long to sell ? I not only loved driving the Z's I love to look at them. Now it saddens me to see such a beautiful car just wasting away and I am too old now to have the energy for the job and it would be better enjoyed by someone who has still the urge to travel fast in comfort and style - Sadly I'm now only into the last two.
