I'd rather walk to work and chuck snowballs at passing cars than risk denting mine........

Can someone tell me if more powerful lights are available as they don't seem that hot on dipped or main beam?

there are more powerful bulbs available generally, which ones fit the Z I dont know, but I do know that qulity is more important than power with bulbs. Ie, a good 65w is better, or can be, than a cheap 100w

Can anybody remember the name of the company that supplies the bulbs direct - I think they're called "White Ice" or something like that - if I remember correctly, they have an eqivalence of about 85w, but only draw 55w worth of power.

I'm sure I haven't dreampt this - I think they're down west and do H3Cs too ....

I got the sandwich toaster conversion, works too ask PaulG he saw them shine at Billing in the dark;)

Probably down to efficiency, like I was trying to say about amps and speakers.

I also have the benefit of the chromed lights .. which look great.

I can't begin to imagine how bad they were before as a standard J-spec, though, since compared to my previous UK Z, the lighting is still worse than useless in my opinion. I'd definitely like to do something to improve it - other than eating more carrots, that is!

Main beam is brilliant, but dipped is like a couple of birthday cake candles.

They are made by PIAA, jap co. -avaiable from their stockists, see http://www.piaa.co.uk for local dealer.

Will take 24hrs or so as they come from weston super mare.

They are H3c super white 55w, but give equiv light to 85w.

I have them and they are a very bright white.

The downside is that they cost £23.00 each + vat but are a straight forward replacement.

I also have the 100w H1 mains and 55wH3 fogs.

You can get 65w H3c, by Gaurdian, which are slightly cheaper at about £14 each.

Ray/Andy,

Thanks for the info - the Weston Super place was the one I was struggling to remember ... I knew I'd seen it in some former post; but the memory's not what it was you know;)

CheerZ,

John.

Thanks for the info on the "Sandwich Toasters", but how does this mod make the lights any better? They do look better, but any additional relection is not going where it is needed, ie down the road, it seems to me that it is going everywhere but down the road.

I am happy to be proved wrong, if you can. :)

I put Halfords 133W bulbs in and it made a big difference, but they only lasted 2 weeks or so. It was constently changing between main beam and dip that made them blow.

Talking of good quality bulbs and low cost, try this site; and click on 'Grey Imports'. Ask for Dianne in sales if you phone. Very helpful people.
