Thought I'd pop my head in here.

As some of you know I have relocated for university to Sheffield, so I'd like to say if there are any local members that would like a chat or have some zed jobs to be done I wouldn't mind donating a weekend.

I haven't seen there is really much of a zed scene is Sheffield but it's worth a shot. Maybe one year i'll get the silver zed on the road again and bring it up...

Sorry to see a lack of reply to this mate. I've not been too active on here a just saw your post a couple of days back. I'm not too sure who's down Sheffield way. The majority here are the proper northeast. So Newcastle down to Stockton / Middlesbrough way. It does count Yorkshire too but no one from down there seems to bother much.

You're always welcome to come along though any time you like, but it'll probably be an hour or so drive for you up the A1/M1. But it would be great to have you along:). I'm happy to try and arrange something if you like

I'm not overly bothered, I don't have any tools, parts or a car in Sheffield so travelling isn't ideal, but just wanted to see if anyone was closeby and needed a hand.

Hi Alic

I didn't see your post How good are you with car electrics ? I could do with a hand because one headlight is working when it's out of the car but not when it's fitted back

Have you tried a different bulb (or swap them side to side). Sometimes the bulb will blow but will still work when the filament touches the contact, but not at a different angle.

You could also try putting an extra ground to the pin to ensure its not a grounding problem in the wiring.

Other than that I'll have to check it with a multimeter.

Hi Alec no the one that I've got a problem with is fine when its out of the mounting but stops working when the whole fitting is put back in. I want to replace them with HIDS but I don't know how to do it

So you're saying it's definitely the bulb that's faulty and not the wiring.

Hids will be easy to fit.

Hi Alic

It could be the wiring into the holder I suppose but fitting the hids which I have bought would erdicate the problem if it was

York is a bit far for me mate.

If you want to add me on Facebook/whatsapp you could message me for assistance, or you could drive down to Sheffield if you want (and your car is on the road).

Fitting HIDs isn't very difficult, you just have to find somewhere to hide the ballasts.

I don't think you have to remove HID's for MOT.

Unless the MOT rules/test has changed?
