Nelson, where you been??? Even I've missed you!!!

Dont know about dry sumps but i assume theyre called that as they dont have oil, which means less MASS!!! Good idea!!!!

:D :D :D

Oddly enough, I don't recall anyone talking about them on TTnet - which is, lets face it, where most stuff gets discussed first (unless you can read Japanese)

b19rks - You'd actually have more mass with a dry sump system (and no, I'm not having a go at Nelson, it's a good question and not a bad idea if you're doing a lot of track work).

Basically the oil is contained in a seperate tank, and pumped into the top of the engine, and out of the bottom, it never pools in the sump, where the oil normally lives..

And yes, I'm aware that was a blatant oversimplification :)

Where would you put the dry sump?

To go off on a related tangent, I thought the Z had a baffled sump, but it is only partially baffled with a simplistic horizontal plate with a hole cut out for the oil pick up?

Welcome back Nelson!!!!!!!

I can't see a Z pulling the kind of g that warrants a dry sump.

But I am looking forward to finding out how many different threads Nelson can use to ask this question :D

I got fed up with losing my rag all the time, I'm in the process of moving house and I was off over Chrissy with no computer.

But hey, I'm back at work and there is no work yet, so thought I'd come back.

Hopefully you'll see a much-improved calmer Nelson for as long as I can keep it up

;) :D

About the mass thing - please try and keep calm about it; it's no big deal ATEOTDay.
