I've just renewed my insurance and did the normal phoning around and seaching on the internet. Would you believe it Elephant.co.uk can in 300 quid cheaper than any other quote that I got! more once I realised that they had added stuff like car breakdown cover, car hire insurance and additional pesonal injury cover. I got rid of the breakdown cover and saved around 70 quid. Anyway just thought that I'd pass that on, only downside was that it had to be paid in one hit. oh and I got NCB protection and added my girlfriend to it as well (that last bit may have been a bad idea).

BTW I'm not on commission

Ev,

Is your car import or UK?

Do you have any modifications?

Just wondering ... after the usual round of laughs with the various Insurance cos.

CheerZ,

John.

no my car is a stock uk 91

Just tried it and decided elephant are pants.

Dont do under 21's on a Z! :D

Youre right abour Elephant just got a quote for the hell of it and they beat tesco by £40!!

Did they add on stuff like breakdown cover without telling you?

What quote did you get?

I would be a little dubious about that. They are terrible for me.

Make sure you got the Z32 and you have the Turbo model selected.

Stuart

That was the funny thing when i put in my reg it came up with my old zed which i insured as a Z31 (as i knew no better then) so i changed it to 1990 onwards, so yep its deffo Z32.

Not bad considering most insurance sites think my reg is either a 1,.2 nova or a lilac astra gte cabriolet!!!!

Yeah they were the first company that could find my car by the reg as it has a private plate, I think they hook up to other insurance company databases.

Not 1 insurance company has found my car via the number plate.

Getting worried :S

Yea, using my number plate at tsb they gave me a quote around £500 fully comp which was pretty amazing considering im 19.

Then i realised it reckoned it was a nissan micra!!

I think a previous owner has done some serious mods then to get it as it is!! :D

You want cheap insurance???

Simply put your reg in as E69HBD

Hey presto!!!

john-boy, is that senna's old zed in your sig there?

Clarkey, it sure is .... very pleased with it too, despite flat battery:( - Hopefully to be rectified today .... planning to leave it at home this week, if poss, though. 265's and snow - NO!

CheerZ,

John.

One thing I've found with Elephant is that their "on-line" quote differs quite alot to when you actually proceed to take out the policy!! ie-loads more expensive! Maybe its better now as this was a while ago.

If you're over 30 and your Z is over 10 years old -there is only one co. to call Insurance Factory. £348 fully comp (but you must have 2nd car aswell).

I got quotes from both Tesco and Elephant - both were appalling. Jap 90 TT auto, parked on street, 4 years no claims etc.

Best I could get was Norwich Union Direct for an unmodified Z - about £700 TPF+T, when I started doing mods I moved to A-Plan - they are the best by miles for modded Jap import cars. I pay slightly more than I did at NU but I'm now fully comp, have SE chip, boost controller, exhaust and intake mods - still a massive rip off but that's insurance I guess....

A guy I know was trying to insure a Mitsubishi Pajero (Shogun import) and couldn't get a quote under £1000 - Aplan were £300!!!

Cheers!
