well went to fit DRL and painted callipers over the weekend. so drove it to the unit, no problems, drove into the unit still good. looked at some excess wiring which was attached to nothing so cut 2 cable ties and then decided to put her up on the ramps and thats when it all went wrong.

She just wouldn't go into drive!!! only reverse and neutral but wouldn't go any further into drive, so decided to remove all the old toad alarm(which didn't work) and the immobiliser set up.

what a load of bad wiring,poor connections, but thats done and ready for a better system at a later date.

 

But the problem is still there and the car still won't to go into drive, she is now up on ramps ready for further investigation. Not sure what the fault is but seems like a mechanical stop.

has any one here got any gems of wisdom on this fault? all help gratefully received.

 

I know there is several issues with these auto boxes and a few of you here have had a lot of hair pulling and swearing moments, so I would assume quite a bit of knowledge is out there.

 

All fuses are ok in the kick panel and the fluid is at the right level.

 

going to have a though poke and prod at the linkage tonight and hopefully its an external problem not an internal one, other wise not only does that mean a whole heap of work but would mean me missing Beaulieu :scared::scared::thumbdown:

Art213 would put his gearbox into '1' then '2' and then into drive. I think he said the sprag gears were broken.

 

Does your car drive if you put it in '1'?

No it would not go into drive at all, can't get past neutral.

 

went down today and lubricated all pivot points and repositioned a cable (had a white cover over it) which was out of a cable clip, it was above the box.

low and behold it now goes through all gears, still up on ramps and not running but think it might be fixed.

will go back tomorrow and try again to confirm but feeling a lot happier :clap:
