Clutch and Lights

Hi Guys, sorry for the long post

I need to fix the problems that i am still facing with my 1990 2seater Manual NA.

1. The clutch pedal hisses at me unless i press it about half way down. After half way it starts to engage. When i give it a lot of gas, it stops making the hissing noise. Then on the way up it clicks at me when about half way up. I feel like it is going to snap or something. What can i do to stop this and fix the problem?

2. My BRAKE light came on the other week whilst driving to work and about 5 minutes later the HICAS and LIGHTS came on aswell. I thought nothing of it as i was planning to change my front and rear brake pads. I got all the pads changed and still all 3 of the lights are still on. I have checked for fluids and all are ok. What else can i check?

3. Aswell as the above question about the 3 lights, my Turbo Boost guage is no longer working. I know i mentioned that my car is an NA but it was originally a TT. The engine has been replaced. before the lights came on my Turbo Boost Gauge used to work fine but it would stop at 0 PSI. Now it hovers around -14 PSI even when giving gas. Is this related to the other questions?

4. And my speedo has never really worked correctly. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.

5. Whilst at night (its the only time i can see this) when i press the gas pedal the battery light starts to glow faintly, the more i press it the brighter it gets, but never fully lights up. I have had the battery tested and the guys tell me that it is OK. What can this be? Could it be the alternator?

again, sorry for all the questions, but it is a need to know or i will have to sell it because it worrying me.

Thanks

Ben

the hissing noise sounds like the clutch servo is leaking air. could also be related to the boost gauge problems

as for the battery light, yes it sounds like the alternator is on its way out. check with a voltmeter across the battery with the engine running, should be around 14v

speedo could be a speed sensor or kph to mph convertor if its got one fitted.

Ok,

Let me check the battery with a voltmeter. If its low do i replace the alternator?

As for the Clutch servo, would this cause the "click" when i take my foot off the clutch and do i replace it or can it be adjusted?

Speedo sometimes works and is working at the moment, this isn't my biggest concern so i will concentrate on the clutch and all of the facking lights :-)

Cheers

Any body else?

any help with the lights and the clutch "clicking at me"

Cheers

I take it youve checked all your fluid levels?? Brake, power steering etc??

The speedo thing could be the speed sensor, when mine went the spedo went intermitent, the hicas light would come on after a few minuites driving and the steering would be a barstard to turn.

The lights one normally means youve got a knackered bulb somewhere, mine does it every time i brake but i cant find any bulbs out so i just dont let it bother me (its like an internal brake light!) Though i have been told that this works on resistance so in theory there could be a bulb on its way out thats still working.

As for the "Brake" light im not quite sure what your on about there.

Good Luck!

All fluids are ok, and i have yet to try the speed sensor.

The "lights" used to be on before when i braked, but now it is on all the time.

The "brake" one is on, even after i changed my pads. Could it be that the knobs at the garage did not connect the brake pad sensor up. If it could be, how can i check this?

My main concern however is the clutch when i take my foot off it. It "clicks" at me and sounds like it is going to brake or something.

i will try and find a clutch servo (it that what it is called) and see if it will fix the problem. i presume it will do but i am not too sure.

Cheers

Ben
